New Exercises

Shapes: The Social Network Game (Bret Sanner)

The saying “your network is your net worth” has a lot of truth to it. This interactive game is meant to aid students’ careers by teaching them how to identify more advantageous network connections and the tactics for improving their social network. This exercise can energize a conversation around a variety of social network, power, influence, and negotiation topics. Watch the webinar to learn more about how to teach this interactive game.

CMO: Chief Mom Officer (Terri Kurtzberg, Oliver Sheldon, and Mason Ameri)

CMO is a mixed-motive, multi-issue negotiation between a streaming sales representative and the head of show acquisition for a streaming service. CMO is an alternative to Moms.com, written by Ann Tenbrunsel and Max Bazerman. This adaptation is less searchable online than Moms.com, set in a more current context (a streaming service instead of a TV show in syndication), and has a shortened background material to provide a more streamlined preparation process.

Fuyao Glass (Lina Deng, Kimberly S. Scott, Cynthia Wang, and Jiang Yong Lu)

This case builds upon the story presented in the award-winning documentary, American Factory, which outlines the purchase of a closed General Motors plant in the U.S. by the Fuyao Group, a Chinese glass manufacturing company. The case facilitates discussions about managing cross-cultural differences and presents opportunities for students to explore what it means to have an inclusive workplace and the steps required to lead organizational change.
