September Newsletter 2023 --
Welcome to Autumn Quarter
We’re here! We’re thriving! We’re excited to see you! (But only after you’ve taken in every single last second of well-deserved summer.)
The Humanities Academic Services team is ready to welcome you back with open arms to answer any questions and calm your Autumn quarter jitters. Listen to our first "1 Minute with HAS" recording of the year to be introduced to the newsletter and to the HAS center!

Our center is open for in-person and remote appointments Monday - Friday to help you prepare for your return to campus.

If you are looking to change your major or minor, be sure to schedule an appointment with an HAS adviser before the 10th day of the quarter (October 10th.)

We will also be hosting a HAS Open House Dawg Daze event on Wednesday September 27th 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. where you can visit our center and grab a donut and coffee on us.
Upcoming Opportunities and Events

There is no better place to find events and resources at the beginning of the academic year than the UW's very own award winning student newspaper, The Daily.

Here are the links for the electronic The Daily newspaper "Welcome Edition" as well as a "Back to School" edition of the Pacific Wave Magazine.

You can also find great archived editions of The Daily

There are print versions of of The Daily and Pacific Wave Magazine around campus, if you would like a copy to hold in your hands..

What is academic advising?
Think of academic advisers as someone who is always in your corner to help you navigate the world of higher education. You do not have to figure everything out alone, we’re here for you

Our advising center works differently than other departments in that you are able to meet with any of our HAS advisers whenever they are available. You will not be assigned a specific HAS adviser once you are admitted into a Humanities major, therefore you can choose when and who you meet with.

Remember that we are here to support you and are happy to connect via the following:
COMING SOON:
New HAS Site Launch!
We've been hard at work this summer building a new website that better serves our Humanities students and staff and can't wait to show you all!

We have created resources for:
  • Humanities Majors & Minors
  • Language Testing
  • English Composition FAQ
  • Graduation & Beyond
  • SO MUCH MORE!

Look out for our official website announcement launch!
NOTE: We strongly recommend students do NOT unsubscribe from HAS emails unless they've changed majors/ minors or have already graduated. HAS uses these mailing lists to convey critical information about degree progress, advising, and graduation. Contact has-center@uw.edu if you wish to be moved to a critical communications only mailing list.
