A Message from Principal Tronsen

Dear Students and Families,

School is off and running! We thank all students and families for a great start this school year. We just wrapped up Homecoming Week at BDHS. That was a fun week with lots of activities and spirited dress up days. Thanks to all the students for your participation. Also, families for showing your support too!

As we enter October there are a couple items on the Horizon. One being fall diagnostic testing in 9th-11th grade classes. These fall diagnostics help us measure student growth. They also allow us to identify areas for support for students.

Aside from that it is hard to believe that we are nearing the end of the Fall sports season too. We wish all student athtletes the best as you finish out the season.

Lastly our first parent teacher conferences is around the corner. These will be happening on Monday October 16th from 4-7:30 p.m.

Please reach out to the High School with any questions and concerns. We are here to help!

All my best!

Principal Tronsen

2023-24 School Success Plan

English Language Arts Goal: Based upon our 3-year average, the % of students meeting the ACT Reading benchmark will increase 6%; from 33% to 39%.  In addition at least 10% of our Students with Disabilities and students that are Hispanic will perform at the high end of their Predicted ACT range in Reading based upon 2023 PreACT results.

Action Step:

  1. Non-Fiction Reading across all content areas, focus on context cues, and review and put into practice previous strategies implemented over the past few years.

Math Goal:Based upon our 3-year average, the % of students meeting the ACT Math benchmark will increase 8%; from 22% to 30%.  In addition at least 10% of our Students with Disabilities and students that are Hispanic will perform at the high end of their Predicted ACT range in Math based upon 2023 PreACT results.

Action Step:

  1. Cross curricular PD/Collaboration with Math to support incorporation of essential math skills, and vocabulary schoolwide.

Staff Effectiveness/Development Goal: Based upon staff perceptions of our work with PLC’s, we will look to move our collaborative culture score from 31% sustaining to 50% sustaining.  Additionally we would like to see our focus on results score to go from 15% sustaining to 30% sustaining. This will be measured by the end of the year PLC survey.

Action Steps:

  1. Work will be done through professional development in the area of data collection, data meetings, and collaborative team problem solving.
  2. Leverage our WIN Times to address Tier 2 needs for students.
