Book Club Meets September 4

Nicked, an Adventure Tale

This new novel by M. T. Anderson is a religious heist set in 1087 featuring a monk and a treasure hunter seeking to steal the relics of St. Nicholas. Just imagine -- It had to be our next read!

Ann Patchett said the book “made me laugh out loud, gasp at the action scenes, and ultimately stole my heart. Anderson’s adult debut handles faith and love with such wit. I’m already pondering a re-read.”

The club members enjoyed The Secret Keeper by Kate Morton and its twist at the end. The next meeting is Wednesday, September 4 following Evening Prayer which starts at 5:00 pm.

Pulpit Swap with Christian Valley September 29

St. Nicholas to Host

Our brothers and sisters in Christ from Christian Valley Church in Cataula will be worshipping with us on Sunday, September 29.

Parish Life is coordinating food for lunch after the service and will provide chicken; you can sign up on the sheets in the kitchen pass-through window to contribute.

Plan to join us and give a warm St. Nicholas welcome to our guests!

First Sunday Brunch

First Sunday Brunch has taken a break over the summer but will resume in October. At this time, we need hosts for October and November (Note: November is being moved to November 10 as we have a guest speaker for Christian Formation after the service.)

First Sunday Brunch generally draws around 25 people, though there is a sign-up sheet ahead of time so you can plan. (Teaming up with another host is a great way to keep things easy.)

There is a sign-up sheet on the bulletin board in the narthex.

BackSnacks Needs Canned Goods

BackSnacks really needs canned entrees. There are some good deals at Sam's and Publix right now - Sam's has Chef Boyardee at 10 cans for $10 dollars. Please think of BackSnacks when you go shopping. All help is appreciated.

Hey, You Look Good in White!

If you are interested in being trained as a Eucharistic Minister – that’s the person in the white alb helping Fr. Bob at the altar on Sundays – please get in touch with Fr. Bob or Erin in the office.

Vestry Meeting

September 15

The September Vestry meeting will be held on after the service and a brief lunch break.

Here are the Minutes, Treasurer's Report, and Statement of Activities from August 2024.

Get Ready for that Money Time of Year

It’s not too early to start thinking about next year’s budget! If you are in charge of a committee, program, or project at St. Nicholas, or if you have any community donations you would like St. Nicholas to consider, you’ll need to submit a budget request to the Vestry by November 17. Stay tuned for help with putting a request together.

In Our Church Family

Your prayers are asked for Liz Dixon, Andy Butzon, Gene & Pat Demonet, and Bruce & Gabe Clouser.

Continued prayers for all those in need within our community and those in the world who have suffered due to war and natural disaster, especially the people of Israel and the Palestinians.

Please send prayer requests to pastoralcare@stnicholashamilton.org

Happy Birthday to...

the Rector's Discretionary Fund!

Did you know that St. Nicholas shares the love of Christ by providing assistance with utility bills? The Rector's Discretionary Fund offers up to $100 per applicant, once a year, to help folks make ends meet.

The need is great in our community and the Fund runs low from time to time. Wouldn't it be a fantastic way to celebrate your birthday - or any other milestone celebrations in your life - by making a tax-deductible donation to the Rector's Discretionary Fund?

Look for envelopes in the narthex to use for your celebratory donations.
