Never underestimate the significance of the honeybee. Besides producing honey, honeybees pollinate one third of the food we eat. Beeline Skin Care is passionate about preserving ‘nature's best friend’. Beeline products are handcrafted in New Hampshire with the therapeutic benefits of local honey and beeswax. Beeline donates a portion of all sales to saving the honeybees. You can “bee beautiful naturally” and save the honeybees at the same time!
Susan Lanphear, founder of Beeline Skin Care in 2012, created her line of hypoallergenic skin care products after working as a chemist in research and development in an industrial setting. She developed sensitivities from the chemicals she was using. Faced with skin reactions, allergens, and hypersensitivity, she found that many skin care products are packed with harsh ingredients that do more harm than good. So, she began experimenting in producing creams and soaps using ingredients found in nature. Honey and beeswax quickly became her materials of choice. At that time, her husband owned a nursery and started to sell Susan’s cream and soap in their garden shop, quickly building a following which provided the incentive to start Beeline.
Beeline Skin Care, a privately owned company located in Henniker, New Hampshire that creates and produces natural skin care products. All of Beeline products are made using only the highest quality natural ingredients, free from genetically modified ingredients, parabens, synthetic fragrances, and dyes. Beeline products are over 95% naturally sourced. Using raw honey from local beekeepers that is rich in royal jelly and propolis. Beeline’s product line includes, moisturizing cremes, stress relieving skin mists, toners, soaps, scrubs, facial and eye serums, and lip soothers. They all repair, protect the skin while soothing, hydrating and nourishing and are rich in vitamins and antioxidants with anti-aging properties. Beeline products are luxurious and highly concentrated. They go on gently and they last!
Beeline is woman owned and operated. Marie Pelletier, who along with Susan work together like sisters (even though they aren’t related). Sixty percent of Beeline's sales come from a set of established resellers, mostly small businesses such as garden centers, museums, botanical gardens, spas, health food stores and so on. Marie Pelletier acts as a liaison to these small businesses providing knowledge and incentive to increase their Beeline sales. Marie also attends artisan and trade shows to educate consumers about the plight of the honeybees and to provide knowledge and guidance on skin care regimens. This generates thirty to thirty-five percent of Beeline’s sales. Approximately ten percent of sales are generated via retail sales from Beeline’s website. Since starting up in 2012, Beeline has had steady growth. Even during the pandemic years, Beeline is thriving and showing tremendous potential for growth
Just like the workings of a beehive, Beeline Skin Care operates collaboratively with everyone working as a team. Beeline currently manufactures their products from a converted four-car garage - employing four ‘worker bees’, it is highly efficient and well organized. Susan creates the formulas and designs most of the packaging. Marie, being in direct contact with consumers, brings recommendations for new products. All the women pitch in to bring a new product to fruition, from creating a name to making, packaging and labelling products including the actual testing of new products to ensure their effectiveness. Packaging is just as important as product quality – if something looks good, you want to try it. According to Susan, “just because something is natural doesn’t mean it needs to be packaged in a canning jar. Beeline's packaging has an elegant stance and attracts consumers. Once they try the product, they're sold because it's excellent!
Beeline does not believe in using third party platforms such as Amazon, Etsy, or eBay. According to Susan, “We at Beeline hold to a much higher level of integrity. We do what we say and say what we do - Direct, authentic, and transparent”. Beeline believes in providing the highest level of service, they are honest and loyal to their customers. They focus on quick response time, accountability, and continuous innovation to provide the best skincare products in the market. “We love small businesses – they truly are the backbone of a community”. Because of this, Beeline is a big supporter of Shop Local.
Beeline is also a supporter of the NH Beekeepers Association and encourages folks to get involved in pesticide-free gardening practices and to learn about sustainable beekeeping. They are fortunate to have Mary Ellen McKean, VP of NH Beekeepers Association as the mentoring guide for their hives. Honeybees are at the heart of Beeline. They believe that if we do not protect the honeybees, we will not only lose honey, but we will also lose pollination. And No Bees means No Food. No Food means No People.
While Beeline Skin Care’s focus is on skincare, they also have one piece of jewelry- a tribute to the Honeybee. The necklace consists of a tiny jar that contains honey, it is very tiny and contains one 12th of a teaspoon of honey. This is the amount of honey that a single bee produces in her lifetime. This item demonstrates the passion and commitment to their mission at Beeline Skin Care. Inspired by the honeybee, Beeline is in awe of the fact that, as small as a bee is, it has a tremendously positive influence on the lives of so many.
