Online Advent Retreat: The Mystical Metaphors of Christmas

A contemplative journey into the biblical stories, art, and music of the season to explore their rich archetypal, spiritual/mystical, and natural/seasonal layers of meaning. This meditative experience has become an annual tradition for some participants, a way of being fully present to the season while delving deeper into its mystery. All sessions are on Saturdays from 10:00 am to 11:15 am via Zoom. Recordings are available if you’re unable to be present. Email CKolovitz@JudsonChurch.org to sign-up.

Wild & Precious Zoom Conversation-This coming Tuesday, November 26, 7:00-8:30 pm will be our Zoom conversation, based on Travis’ sermons during this fall series and Mike Graves' book, Jesus' Vision for Your One Wild and Precious Life. We will consider “the greatest commandment” (Matthew 22:34-40), discussed in Pastor Norvell’s November 17 sermon and in chapter 7 of Graves’ book. Related to “love God...love your neighbor as yourself” is the conjunction AND— “the most important word in the Bible.” Also related is Luke 17:20-21,

"…the kingdom of God is among (or within) you.” What does that mean? Join us for this last Wild & Precious Conversation as we reflect upon these fascinating concepts and apply them to our lives. (We will begin a new topic in January.) Keith Ford will email the Zoom link for Tuesday’s conversation; if you are not on the Spiritual Voyagers email list, contact Keith.

Children & Youth News  -  Jessica has resigned as Lead Child Care Provider due to the family moving. Can you spend one Sunday reading a story to the children and leading a simple activity? Email Carolyn if you can! We'd also love your help spreading the word to find a new Child Care person!

====================================

Prayer Series - Join our Welcoming Prayer session at 7:15 pm on Monday December 2. The Welcoming Prayer is a method of accepting our physical and emotional reactions to situations and releasing our attachment to control. Expect a brief intro, a Rumi poem, time for prayer, and then a brief sharing. Total session no more than 30 minutes. Email Carolyn at ckolovitz@judsonchurch.org  for the Zoom link or if you have questions.

REASONS WE ARE THANKFUL FOR JUDSONWe continue with our “Thanksgiving Gift to Judson.” We are blessed when we express and share our appreciation of Judson Church. What is one reason you are thankful for Judson? Write down your reason on a Post-it note and add it to the poster board at the back of the sanctuary. If you have more than one reason--great, post a few more. This is a blessing.

Judson Church is looking for a Part-time Lead Child Care Provider. We’re looking for someone to lead our youth in a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment on Sunday mornings. They’ll lead educational, mindfulness, character-building, and nature-based programming. The candidate needs to have experience caring for infants and children of all ages, with an emphasis on school-age children and must be at least 21 years of age. Prior classroom experience is strongly preferred. A full description of the role can be found in the announcements section of our website or via this link: https://www.judsonchurch.org/childcare-provider/

We have some pretty amazing youth at Judson, so let’s support them by sharing this opportunity among your networks!

If you have any questions, feel free to contact Jeff O’Halloran at personnel@judsonchurch.org.

New Circle Forming – Activist, Writer & Jungian Analyst Jean Shinoda Bolen says: "Women are headed towards forming a transformational circle.. maybe even the metaphorical Millionth Circle..a circle of women with a spiritual center that when it forms creates a critical mass tipping point uplifting the feminine, tilting the world towards balance and ending patriarchy." Now is the time! New monthly Circle starting soon with in-person meeting days/times to be determined by group. Circles practice deep listening with the intention of deepening community. And we laugh a lot! Email Carolyn to sign up at ckolovitz@judsonchurch.org or if you have questions.

Volunteer Opportunities:

 Tell your story!

We would love to hear your story – volunteer to do a Personal Reflection in worship!

Be a part of Judson’s worship experience – volunteer to be a Worship Reader! The Worship Reader will be involved in sharing Judson’s Land Acknowledgement, the first lesson of the morning (scripture or contemporary), and reading the prayer intents with Carolyn.
