Summer Youth Program a Resounding Success!

MassHire Holyoke’s Youth Program had another successful and impactful summer. Almost 200 youth completed job readiness training programs and placed in various unique workplace opportunities. Studies show that the more youth engage in meaningful work and civic activities, the more they are likely to remain engaged and active citizens. We are grateful for the many temporary summer positions provided by 50 local business partners. Thanks also are extended to Commonwealth Corporation and the Massachusetts Finance Housing Authority who provided much funding to support these activities. The participants got the chance to learn workplace expectations, develop skills, provide on the job assistance, and earn an income. In addition, they also attended a field trip to the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, as well as a summer wrap-up fun outing at Brownstone Adventure Park. The Youth Team works with hundreds of young people throughout the calendar year helping identify job, educational, and career exploration opportunities, including certificate training programs. Whether a youth or an employer, to learn more about the Youth Program, please contact Imanol Cruz, the Director of Youth Programs and Outreach, at icruz@masshireholyoke.org
