For over 20 years, Kate has served as in-house counsel and executive liaison to the board of directors of several corporations, spanning several highly-regulated industries. Kate currently serves as Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary of Wintrust Financial Corporation. Prior to joining Wintrust, Kate served as General Counsel and Corporate Secretary of FreightCar America, Inc.; Chief Administrative Officer, General Counsel and Secretary of Bally Total Fitness Corporation; and Vice President and Associate General Counsel of the Chicago Stock Exchange. Earlier in her career, Kate worked in private practice at two Chicago law firms.
Kate is a member of the Economic Club of Chicago and the Chicago Finance Exchange. She serves as a Trustee of The Field Museum and as a member of the Board of Directors of the Chicago Public Library Foundation, Ronald McDonald House Charities® of Chicagoland & Northwest Indiana, the Keystone Board of the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab, and the Costume Council of the Chicago History Museum.
Kate's leisure activities and interests included: travel, reading, Minnesota Vikings.

Kristin is a Former WEAA Scholar. She earned a B.S. degree from Northwestern University, and a J.D. from Tulane University.
A seasoned litigator in state and federal courts across the country as well as cross-border disputes, Kristin focuses her practice on insurance subrogation and commercial bankruptcy. After spending several years at big firms, Kristin is the managing member of the law firm she founded in 2015. She serves on several boards, both for profit and non-profit, some involving social justice issues and others promoting the industries in which she practices. More importantly, Kristin is a proud mother of three.

Renanah is a former WEAA Scholar. She earned a BA, Psychology and History, from Northwestern University, WCAS, in 1995. and a PhD, Clinical Psychology, from Northwestern University, Feinberg School of Medicine in 2006.
Dr. Lehner maintains an active psychotherapy private practice in Chicago treating adults with a wide variety of mental health concerns. She is an Instructor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, where she mentors graduate students in clinical psychology. She is also on staff at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. Dr. Lehner has specialized training in the treatment of severe and persistent mental illnesses and worked in community mental health before starting her private practice. She has developed training programs for a state program that provides transition from institutional care back to community living, and has written treatment manuals for group interventions for insomnia and mood disorders.

Monica Peppel graduated in 2016. She graduated from McCormick School of Engineering with a degree in Industrial Engineering and has been lucky enough to pursue a successful career in technology as a result of the support she received as a WEAA student. Being a member of WEAA had a profound impact on her undergraduate experience. She is very passionate about mentorship and has led various mentorship initiatives at the companies she's worked at post-graduation. | |
Chloe Wong is a former WEAA scholar. She graduated in 2021. Chloe currently works in operations management in Customer Service at McMaster-Carr as a Management Development Associate. Previously, Chloe held public health research and reproductive health advocacy roles at non-profit organizations and universities in Chicagoland and Vietnam. She is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Public Policy at the Harris School of Public Policy at the University of Chicago. She serves on the following boards: KAN-WIN, Coalition for a Better Chinese American Community (CBCAC), National Asian Pacific American Women’s Forum (NAPAWF) Chloe's leisure activities/interests include traveling, reading, golf, baristaing, organizing and advocacy. | |
Annie Zhang is a former WEAA Scholar. She earned her BA in Economics from Northwestern University in 2022.
Annie currently works as a marketing associate and is a
Volunteer for Evanston Special Olympics.
Annie's special interests include:
writing, dancing, volleyball, biking, running and listening to music.
