Connecting Our Community with Christ

1983-2023

For 40 years we have stood

as a mighty tree in our community:

Strong and rooted,

Soaring and reaching,

Vibrant and fruitful,

Sheltering and comforting.

Lent V

Preacher: Rev. Jeff Day

Liturgist: Mike Groves

Usher: Sherry Hutchinson

Lent often has a waiting tone. We wait for Resurrection Sunday. We wait for Christ's return, wait for God to set things right. And we do so with hope and patience.

This Week as we wait, listen to Psalm 33:20-22. "We wait in hope for the Lord, he is our help and our shield. In him our hearts rejoice, for we trust in his holy name. May your unfailing love be with us, Lord, be upon us, even as we hope in you."

If you would like to participate with Highland Presbyterian Church remotely, we will stream this Sunday's service (9:30 a.m.) on our facebook page,

In Examen: Inward work for outward living, Teri McDowell Ott explores the ancient spiritual practice of examen that focuses on honest assessment and reflection. With a different theme for each week of Lent, readers are invited to explore the connection between internal contemplation and outward action. Themes include examining our fear to live with faith, examining our pain to live with healing, examining our dishonesty to live with truth, examining our joy to live with gratitude, examining our love to live with heart and examining our burdens to live with blessing.

One Great Hour of Sharing

April 9, 2023

For over 70 years, One Great Hour of Sharing has provided Presbyterians a way to share God's love with our neighbors in need around the world. The three programs supported by One Great Hour of Sharing - Presbyterian Disaster Assistance, the Presbyterian Hunger Program, and Self-Development of People - all work in different ways to serve individuals and communities in need. From initial disaster response to ongoing community development, their work fits together to provide people with safety, sustenance, and hope.
