Sixty Seconds with the Superintendent

Each week, we receive questions for the Superintendent from students in pre-K through 12th grade. In this video series, Ms. Beamon will answer these questions and help our families and the community we serve get to know the leader of our public schools.

What's Cool in Our Schools

Bear Lake Elementary Selected as Recipient for New Chairs

The holidays were extra sweet for the staff at Bear Lake Elementary when they were surprised with a donation of new chairs for teachers and staff.

Exemplis and Marc Shore & Associates partnered to make this donation possible. When we reached out to thank them, they replied "Our hope is that by providing new chairs, teachers and staff will feel valued and appreciated, knowing that their efforts have not gone unnoticed!"

Milwee Middle School Named Recipient of ITEEA Program of Excellence Award

Milwee Middle School has been recognized with one of the highest honors given to technology and engineering education programs. This honor was determined by leaders at the state level as well as members of the International Technology and Engineering Educators Association's (ITEEA) national committee.

The Program Excellence Award recognizes superior K-12 technology and engineering education programs from around the world. These programs serve as a standard and model for the development of other programs. Awardees serve as models for their colleagues, inspiration to their communities, and leaders in their region, province, or state as proponents of advancing technological literacy for all.

Spring Lake Elementary School Sticks to Strong Incentives for Reading

Spring Lake Elementary's Assistant Principal Cashion found herself in a sticky situation when many students earned their iReady growth incentive!

The students had a great time taping her to the wall and celebrating their reading success. This is just one of the many creative ways our schools engage, encourage and celebrate learning achievements.

Winter Springs High School Hosts "Informed by the Uniform" Event

Each of our high school campuses host the "Informed by the Uniform" event allowing students to learn about a variety of career options in the fields of law enforcement, military and fire/rescue.

Students have the opportunity to ask questions, try on equipment, and explore these career fields in a tangible way.

This is always a popular and engaging event for our SCPS students and we are thankful for the community partnerships that enable us to give our students this experience.

Special thanks to Seminole County Fire Department for sharing their recent photos from Winter Springs High!
