Move-In Weekend starts in 3...2...1... |
Move-In weekend starts tomorrow, and we're eagerly anticipating your arrival to Queen's Residence!
You must submit your photo for your student ID card and sign the Residence Contract before you arrive. You will not be able to receive your keys if you haven’t completed these tasks.
This issue will focus on the important details that you must follow for move-in to run smoothly. Your move-in instructions were sent to your queensu email on Tuesday this week – read them to be prepared, and remember to print out your Zone Card.

Complete It Takes All of Us
This program is mandatory and will help ensure that every first-year student is aware of, and understands their role in preventing sexual violence.
Please make sure that you click on Complete when you are finished each module. This is the only way that the system will record that you started and finished each module. You must also take at least 30 minutes to work through the entire module or else it will record your attempt as invalid. We have noticed that there are a high number of students with either incomplete or invalid submissions, so please double-check your training record.
You must complete this program before September 3, 2024.

Important Guidelines for move-in
- Bring some government issued ID with you.
- Screenshot or flag your move-in instruction email. We’ll ask to see the details at the top with your name, room and student number when you check in.
-
Print out your zone card in colour, fill it out, and set it on the dash on your vehicle during move-in. Check your inbox for your Zone Card.
-
Do NOT use Google Maps, Waze, or another app for directions. Many roads have been closed or turned into one-way streets to ease congestion. By following the zone card directions, you will save time and help to ensure an effective process.
-
Please label your belongings. When you unload in your loading zone, it will be important to have your items labelled clearly. Leave cardboard and other packaging at home to support our efforts toward a Mindful Move-In.
-
You will have 5 minutes to unload your belongings in the unloading zone.
- Drivers will NOT be permitted to get out of the vehicle.
- There will be many volunteers that can assist you.
- While your driver parks the vehicle in the designated parking lot, you may start to move your belongings in to your room, or wait for them to return.

Move-In Map
Download our Move-In Map for a preview of all the routes. You will need to print out your zone card in colour, which has been emailed to you.

Make your move-in experience comfortable
- Say goodbye to the family pet before coming to campus.
- One vehicle per student, no trailers!
- Bring a reusable water bottle (there will be filling stations) and snacks!
- Wear comfortable shoes and clothing, and dress for the weather – we're currently expecting rain on Saturday.
- Be prepared to wait in line
- Say goodbye by 4 pm – you have your first floor meeting and a planned night out.
Move-In tends to generate a significant amount of waste each year. Help us create a Wasteless Move-In this year! Here are some tips to avoid waste at move-in and to practice sustainability throughout the year!

Check out our online hub for information about safe off-campus gatherings, the city’s University District Safety Initiative (in effect until Sept. 9), local bylaws and fines (up to $2,000!), the university’s Student Code of Conduct, which can apply to off-campus behaviours, safer substance use, and university services that can provide support, including the Campus Observation Room (COR), a safe on-campus space to sleep if you have had too much to drink, as well as sexual violence prevention and response.
As part of the UDSI, Gord Edgar Downie Pier and Breakwater Park beach will be closed to the public nightly, from 8 pm to 6:30 am, from the evening of Aug. 30 to the morning of Sept. 9.
