AAA Newsletter Edition!

As a result of the way in which several different events coalesced on the calendar over the past week, this edition of Hamilton Headlines has turned into the "AAA Edition: Action, Activities and Art!" Students worked on performances, experimented with sound, learned teamwork in PE, participated in Active Community Day, celebrated the end of Battle of the Books, and continued to churn out wonderful art. Oh, and a couple of reminders toward the bottom of the newsletter. Enjoy!

Performance Prep

Students in our 8th grade Theater class work on building their comfort with being in front of an audience while reciting lines by reading to classes down the hall at Van Hise Elementary.

Improvising Sound in Music

Margaret Jenks' 7th grade Music classes recently learned about things like pitched vs. unpitched instruments, resonance and the overtone series....all from improvised instruments. Students went on to play short pieces on their instruments.

Low Ropes Prep for High Ropes in PE

Students in our 8th grade Physical Education classes were building skills on our low ropes course in preparation for the high ropes course that began this week in the gym!

Active Community Time

Our Third Quarter ACT day this past Friday afternoon had students participating in many fun and engaging cross grade level activities!

Battle of the Books Celebration!

Battle of the Books teams enjoyed a culmination celebration this past Friday during lunch in the library. Ice cream sundaes all around!

Reminder: Paid UW Research Opportunity

UW Madison is offering a paid participation research opportunity for children between the ages of 8-12. The study focuses on the biological basis of childhood anxiety, a very common condition that impacts up to 20% of children and can cause social, academic, and family disruptions. The below linked study flyer invites interested families to visit a UW website to learn more about the study, and to complete an online screening if they think their child may be a good fit for the study. Interested families are compensated with a $10 gift card if they choose to complete the study screening. Study visits are completed outside of school hours.
