Town Hall Meeting - March 26
What:  New Life in Christ Church Town Hall Meeting
When: Sunday, March 26, 2023, after the 10:45 am Contemporary Worship Service
Where: Life Center
Why: Update on the present and future path of our church

We want to update everyone on where we are with the present and future path of our church, as we move our mission forward to Offer New Life in Jesus Christ by Seeking, Shaping, and Sending Disciples.

2022 was a very busy and extremely important year for our church as we left the United Methodist denomination and we dealt with the effects of Hurricane Ian.

In the aftermath of the hurricane, and with Samaritan’s Purse using our campus from the end of September through the second week of December, we decided to wait until this year to begin to determine the future of our church.

After disaffiliation we became an independent church, retaining the same Wesleyan theology, along with Scripture, that has always been the foundation for our beliefs. We will begin to review the advantages of our church’s future either as a member of a network of churches, a traditional denomination like the newly formed Global Methodist Church, or remaining as an independent church.

Many other Methodist Churches in our area are now voting to leave the denomination. As more churches leave, there will be some opportunities with these churches that may develop. We are also beginning the review of the Global Methodist Church organization that was formed in May of last year and is still in its infancy.

Please join us for a brief lunch, get up to date as to where we are, and ask your questions of our church leaders.

We hope to see you on Sunday, March 26th after the 10:45 am Contemporary Service, in the Life Center.

A Word from Worship
Greetings New Life Church family and friends --

As we continue our journey through Lent, I want to remind everyone of the wonderful opportunity we have each Wednesday during Lent. At noon every Wednesday in our sanctuary, a different pastor leads us in worship. The service is about 30 minutes long and the messages are thought-provoking and encouraging with music provided by David Bellows, our Director of Music on the organ.  I encourage you to take advantage of these beautiful times of worship.  As I continue to read my daily devotional leading the journey that Jesus took for us leading to His resurrection, the comparisons to the Easter Sunday celebrations of today are both terrifying and beautiful. Memories of Easters years ago are of pretty pastel dresses, and Easter bonnets (remember those?) - wonderful Easter dinners with families, Easter egg hunts, and of course Easter lilies. The road to the cross for Jesus was long and hard and to meditate on the thought that He went through that torture, pain, and humiliation for us is humbling. The typical "bonnet" was pretty with flowers and a lovely ribbon tied in a bow under our chin. John 19:2 tells us "The soldiers twisted together a crown of thorns and put it on His head and arrayed Him in a purple robe." The soldiers did this to mock Him and regardless of that, the crown of thorns is a reminder that Jesus is King and seated on a throne. I keep thinking He could have said "enough " at any time but didn't. He went through all that for you and me. My prayer during Lent is to more fully understand the sacrifice He made for all of us. To understand that our biggest problems are never too much for Him or He is not bored when we keep bringing the same problem to Him over and over. It's a reminder to never give up. We are truly blessed!
If you haven't picked up your name tag please check for it or if you haven't ordered one please let either me or Gail know you'd like one. It's important to wear it on campus. Also, if you haven't signed up for volunteer opportunities you're willing to help with, please message me your name, email, phone number which service you attend, and what area you're interested in, for example, greeter, usher, or cookies. I am looking for someone to help with a schedule for greeters. Please ask me for info. I am blessed by this wonderful church family.

I'm praying for you!

Worship Coordinator
