"Take Joy"

Rev. Carol Sprecker speaking

Joy is a theme associated with Advent, a time of preparation and waiting for love to be born into the world at Christmas. We need joy. It’s essential to a full life of the spirit. It rises in us from the essence of life itself. Unlike happiness, which is tied to external conditions - joy is a choice. It’s always there, walking hand in hand with sorrow. So, let’s gather for a joy-filled celebration and have some fun.

We will celebrate Christmas on Christmas Eve at 5:30 P.M.

We will celebrate with singing, the bells, special guest singer Leslie Vincent, and the sweet companionship of friends and familiar faces.

Ministerial Search Committee News

The “Listening Circle” was well attended last Sunday, and it was a good opportunity to use our “Northshore Church Covenant" to set the tone for the gathering. Approximately 25 members participated in a conversation that was earnest, thoughtful, and caring. This provided a strong foundation for our congregation as we enter the next phase in the search. Thank you to all who were able to attend and participate!

Exciting news: Northshore Church’s “Congregational Record” is now “live” on the Unitarian Universalist Association portal, and ministerial candidates are now able to read the records that are posted from all congregations who are in the search process nationally. The names of candidates who are interested in our church will be released to us on January 2.

As we enter into this next phase, we are reminded of privacy expectations. Please understand that we committee members will not be able to share specific information, nor respond to specific questions, in order to maintain the integrity of the search process. We will, however, continue to keep you abreast of our changes in focus and schedule. We are well supported by the Unitarian Universalist Association Transitions Team.

We are looking forward to the “New Year!”

Holiday gift-giving for refugee families

Thank you for the many contributions of money and clothing to support our refugee families. The much-needed gifts will be delivered soon by members of the Social Action Committee.

Transgender Inclusion in Congregations

The Social Action Committee would like to kick off the new year with a series of six videos and discussions on transgender issues and how we can make our church more welcoming to all people of the LGBTQ and plus community. This will be open to all church members. The series was designed by the Transforming Hearts Collective with pre-recorded videos and reflection questions and resources. The videos can be watched prior to the discussion or with a group with a discussion after. We will be looking for people to join as attendees and also as discussion group leaders. We will set aside a date in early January to discuss and prepare for this event. For more info go to: https://www.transformingheartscollective.org/online-courses
