School Announcements


  • PTA Family Workshop:  The PTA will be hosting a parent workshop featuring Fatima T. Williams, who will be going over financial literacy, on Wednesday, February 8 at 5:00 PM.


  • Anxiety & Key Coping Strategies Workshop: District 5 will be hosting this workshop for all NYC families. February 9, 5:00pm. Zoom link: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/86397102623?pwd=UWhyTm4vTXgvRzhSSW4zNTRoTVRoZz09 


  • INCLUDEnyc 2023 Virtual Fair: The INCLUDEnyc Fair is New York City's largest annual fair for young people with disabilities, where you can connect with summer camps, recreational programs, supports, and services from the safety and convenience of your own home. The fair will be held Saturday, February 11, 9:00am – 1:00pm. Register here.


  • District 5 Family Institute: February 15, 5:00pm


  • Community Education Council meeting: February 15, 6:30pm


  • Healthy Heart Jump-A-Thon: Students will participate in our annual Healthy Heart Jump-A-Thon on Tuesday, February 14th.


  • Respect For All Week: Respect For All week will be taking place from February 13 to 17. The flyer for our RFA week is below.


  • Go Green NYC School Surveys: It is time to complete the 2023 NYC School Survey opening on Monday, February 13, 2023 until March 31, 2023. This school year you have two ways to complete the survey; paper form or online. To complete the survey using the paper form, we will be hosting a survey pick up on Monday, February 13, 2023 from 8:00 am to 9:00 am.


  • Parent Workshop: We will be hosting an in school parent workshop on Wednesday, February 15th at 9:00 a.m. focusing on 'Self Care Part 2.'


  • Elementary School Admissions: District 5 will be hosting an virtual info session for all NYC families with children born in 2018, 2019, and 2020 covering 3-K, pre-K, and kindergarten admissions. The flyer with the times, dates, and links are below.




  • Mid-Winter Recess: Schools will be closed Monday, February 20 to Friday, February 24. Schools will resume Monday, February 27th.


  • Health and Safety: It is very important that if your child is sick you keep them home, and check in with a doctor before bringing them back into school building. The Nurse will continue to see students and inform the parents if pick up is needed. COVID testing kits are given to students every Monday, please use if needed.


  • Device Update: We will continue to use learning devices for both in person learning and at times when called for during temporary remote instruction. If you need a device, please contact your child’s teacher. Your cooperation and that of your child during this time is very important and very much appreciated. Working together we can have a safe and productive school year.


  • DOE School Calendar: You can find the new school calendar for the school year of 2022 to 2023 HERE


  • NYC Schools Account: It’s important that your school is able to reach you to share crucial information quickly, including alerts about confirmed COVID-19 cases in your child’s school. Please sign up for a NYC Schools Account (NYCSA) so we can contact you via phone, email, or text message. STEPS ARE HERE

PowerPlay Girls Mentoring Group!


PowerPlay is a new mentoring program for our fourth and fifth grade girls that focuses on increasing girls’ participation in sports, building and maintaining health and wellness, developing leadership and life skills and increasing confidence and self-esteem. Our girls will learn the fundamental skills in a variety of sports so they become confident in their athletic abilities and enjoy playing.

The school store is now open for business every Friday! Students receive school bucks throughout the week for being good citizens in the school building and classroom.

Arrival and Dismissal Updates
  • Breakfast will be served for all students in the cafeteria at 8:00 AM.
  • 3K – PK students will be escorted and picked by their parent to their classrooms.
  • Kindergarten and First Grade students will be greeted and dismissed by their teachers at the Unit 1 veranda.
  • Second and Third Grade students will be greeted and dismissed by their teachers at the Unit 3 veranda.
  • Fourth and Fifth Grade students will be greeted and dismissed by their teachers at the main lobby, Exit 2 veranda.

School Based Mental Health Services

School Based Mental Health Services offers students a space to talk about their thoughts and feelings in a safe environment and helps them develop healthy coping-skills. We offer individual counseling services, family therapy, and group counseling for students. 

 

If you believe your child can benefit from developing healthy coping skills or if you notice your child is experiencing changes in their eating or sleeping habits, behavioral issues, extreme feelings of sadness or worry, or has experienced any type of traumatic event, please reach out to Armanda Soto at Armanda.Soto@nyfoundling.org, and fill out a consultation form below.
