From Mrs. Pudelko:

What a great turnout at the Trunk or Treat last weekend. Thank you to all of the families who hosted a trunk - it was great to celebrate Halloween with you. We will celebrate Halloween on Monday as a school. Students may not wear costumes to school but may dress in orange, black, or Halloween shirts with dress-down (jean day) bottoms. We will end our day with a Halloween party in each class. I have been copied on communication from room parents and we have some great celebrations planned for the students. I know this is a great opportunity for parents to be in classrooms, but please be conscious of parent-to-parent socializing in classrooms. This can be distracting and overwhelming to have so many additional adults in the classrooms. The following morning, students will join together for All Saints' Day Mass at 8:30 am in the church. This replaces our traditional Friday school Mass.

The construction has added a few extra minutes to all of our days - thank you for being patient and conscious about being on time for school and pick-up. Hopefully, only a few more days and it will be wrapped up. They are slated to be done on November 4th. As a reminder, we don't have school next Thursday or Friday so teachers can participate in professional development. We will be traveling as a staff to Lansing on Thursday for the Michigan Association of Nonpublic Schools Conference and on Friday we will join the staff from St. Paul the Apostle Catholic School for professional development on assessing students.

If you don't follow our school on social media, I encourage you to follow us on Facebook or Instagram (@SAPCatholicSchool) to keep up on things that are happening in our classrooms.

Enjoy the fall weather!

Mrs. Pudelko

"Friendzy" News:

Our catchphrase for the month of October is “Listen Up!” We will learn different strategies to become better listeners. Whole Body Listening is a concept to help students focus and actively listen with more than just our ears. The students will listen to step-by-step directions to create a Halloween drawing, and we will play the game “Telephone!” This game was a big hit last year, and they’ve been excited to play it again! I’ll show the first student a code to get into class and then each student will have to repeat it to the next. Will the code stay the same?! We will end the unit with a partner game where students will build with legos and instruct their partner how to replicate their model.

Building Healthy Communities will focus on why it’s important to eat fruit!
