The Division of Student Affairs cultivates an inclusive environment to advance

students' holistic development through intentional learning and

transformative engagement.

A Message from our VP

Happy New Year! Here. we. go. With just a few days away from the start of classes, I know all of us are deep in preparations for the programs and experiences that will support our students. I look forward to seeing our campuses bustling with in person activities again and meeting our newest class of first year students this month.

This newsletter highlights all the work Student Affairs units have done to advance intentional learning and the updates in this edition show all those efforts from across the division. We are making a difference and we are lifting up the success of students engaging in our programs and activities. I am very proud of our IMPACT so if you need to revisit the IMPACT summary from units across the division, do that again. We have a lot to celebrate!

Announcements have gone out about this year’s CREST program (Committing to the Relentless Enhancement of Self and Team) so if you haven’t submitted an application or have questions, there is still time! Please ask Jodi Kennedy and I if you have questions. I look forward to another great year at GS working with each of you! Let’s GATA!

Hail Southern!

New Benefit for GS Employees: Free Access to RAC and ARC

We are excited to announce that the start of the fall semester will also mean the start of free access to the main Georgia Southern recreation facilities on the Statesboro and Savannah campuses.

Following many who asked about possible additional employee benefits in the employee engagement survey, all Georgia Southern employees will have access to the Grube Recreation Activity Center (RAC) and the Armstrong Recreation Center (ARC) at no cost when they begin their fall hours of operation on Saturday, Aug. 12.

This means annual membership fees that provide access to the RAC & ARC are now being waived.

Starting Aug. 12, employees will only need to show their Georgia Southern mobile credentials or ID card and complete the Campus Recreation & Intramurals electronic waiver to gain free access to the RAC & ARC.

RAC and ARC hours are available online. While we are pleased to offer this added benefit, remember that these facilities should be accessed on your own time (i.e. during lunch breaks or other non-work hours).

Please note that programs and/or services that have an additional fee beyond membership associated with them will still be charged. This new benefit does not include the Georgia Southern Golf Course, the Shooting Sports Education Center, Southern Adventures programs, bike repair, and fitness classes or programs that charge access and program fees.
