Weekly Newsletter 01/03/2023

Happy New Year to all our school families. It was so wonderful this week to welcome our students back. I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday break. Thank you to the families who donated their Christmas tree trunks and those who volunteered to cut them. So far we have about 90 tree blocks for our classrooms. They smell so yummy. We will continue to collect tree trunks, simply leave them outside my office and our volunteer tree elves will pick them up for cutting.

Our Rainbow, Orange, Purple, Brown, Silver and Gold classes were treated to an animal adventure field-trip. If your child attended, you will see a charge for $7 in your Brightwheel account. The kids learned about Geckos and Bearded Dragons. They asked wonderful questions.

Special thanks to the art club from Braddock High for painting the beautiful boxes outside our school. They worked hard on their winter recess to make our front entry way look so wonderful.

Our students also visited our school garden this week to find hundreds of tomatoes, lettuce, and some pepper growing. Soon the green tomatoes will be red and ready to eat!

Our staff has worked really hard on their National Accreditation Portfolios. We are expecting a 2 day site visit from Washington in he next week. The assessor will spend half of the time observing our classrooms and the other half reviewing our portfolios. NAEYC (National Association for the Education of Young Children) only accredits 4% of Early Learning Centers in the country. I am very optimistic that we will achieve accreditation for a 4th consecutive 5 year cycle. After all, the finest teachers in the land teach at Kids For Kids Academy!
