Volunteers get free entry if they sign up for a four-hour shift on any day of the festival this weekend, Friday through Sunday, August 11–13. Camp on site as availability allows. Volunteers are not required to stay the full weekend.

Safe Shelter Aims to Open Year-Round

An organization joining the effort to alleviate homelessness in Asheville, Safe Shelter, seeks a new location as the building previously used is slated for demolition. Safe Shelter, started in late 2022, is an ecumenical effort, including Grace Episcopal, Asheville. It is intentional in its approach, helping those who typically have a tougher time finding shelter while experiencing homelessness.nk

Learning with Children: Explore Catechesis

The Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGS) employs the Montessori method of teaching, which calls for the child’s full engagement and participation, rather than mere listening or reciting back information. Introductory sessions for anyone interested in CGS are coming up in August with All Souls Cathedral catechist Micki Hill.

Pack the Pantry for BRSC

Support our 2023 Blue Ridge Service Corps by contributing to the Pack the Pantry event! Our new corps members will be moving into Folwell House on August 27th for their year of service and community. One of their first activities together will be to unpack and organize their communal kitchen space. You can help by purchasing items for their year through a Target registry or a Walmart registry. Follow the links and help us welcome them to the ministry of our diocese.

Wild Church Takes Parishioners Outside

Each Sunday evening, rain or shine, Church of the Transfiguration, Bat Cave gathers participants at the Transfiguration Retreat House to circle in prayer and then walk into the forest to connect to the Sacred and the land. Most services are led by lay parishioners and there is often music to accompany the walk. Clergy-led Wild Church services often include communion.
