On behalf of the Rad Diversity Committee, please join us virtually on Friday, March 3, 2023 at 6:30pm for the viewing of Black Men in White Coats Documentary.

This documentary dissects the systemic barriers that prevent Black men from becoming medical doctors and the consequences on society at large. If you missed the UTSW-hosted screening earlier this month, this is a great opportunity to watch this impactful documentary.

 Please RSVP by 2/27/23.

Reminder

We would like to Honor Dr. Robert W. Parkey's Legacy

Our Radiology community is mourning the loss of former Chair, Robert W. Parkey, M.D., Professor Emeritus of Radiology. In 1977, Dr. Parkey was appointed Chair of the Department of Radiology. Under his leadership, the department grew in size and technical capacity. He recruited and retained talented faculty, fellows, residents, technologists, and staff. With a keen eye for innovation, Dr. Parkey successfully advocated for a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) clinical unit, allowing UT Southwestern to be one of the early academic sites to engage in research and clinical care on a commercial instrument. His scientific discoveries helped develop nuclear scanning techniques to diagnose, localize, and measure acute heart attacks noninvasively.  Throughout his 33-year tenure as Chair, Dr. Parkey embraced the rapid development of medical imaging. His contributions were essential to the development of the Biomedical Magnetic Resonance Facility, the Mary Nell and Ralph B. Rogers Magnetic Resonance Imaging Center, Zale Lipshy Pavilion – William P. Clements Jr. University Hospital, and the Bill and Rita Clements Advanced Medical Imaging Building. In 2016, the Department of Radiology established the Robert W. Parkey, M.D. Distinguished Professorship in Radiology in his honor.
