REMINDER: PRESIDENTS' DAY WEEKEND Reminder that Friday 2/17 and Monday 2/20 are both school holidays. Monday, February 13 will follow the Wed/Fri schedule and students need to remember to sign up for Academy. Enjoy the long weekend!

CAMPO PARENTS BOOKCLUB Please join us for our next CPC Bookclub meeting on Tuesday, March 28 at 7pm in the Campo Library. The book we will be discussing is: How to Navigate Life, The New Science of Finding Your Way in School, Career, and Beyond By Belle Liang and Timothy Klein. An essential guide to tackling what students, families, and educators can do now to cut through stress and performance pressure and find a path to purpose. REMINDER: CAMPO SERVICE AWARDS--KEEP TRACK OF YOUR HOURS Students who volunteer in the community may be eligible for a Service Award. Completed hours and applications will be accepted through April 21, 2023. There is a new online only application process this year and we are returning to the 30 hour minimum. For details, guidelines, and application information, please visit the Volunteer Service Award page on the Campo website or visit CPC Volunteer Service Award on the CPC website.


DEADLINE THIS WEEK: CSF APPLICATIONS The California Scholarship Federation (CSF) application submission window will run through February 16. Complete information about CSF, including the online application form that must be completed to qualify for membership, can be found here: CSF Application. Questions? Contact Duane Magno in the Counseling Office.

ATHLETICS NEWS

NEW: CONGRATULATIONS TO BOYS VARSITY BASKETBALL TEAM! Campo Boys Varsity Basketball won the DAL league with a win over Acalanes on Saturday night in front of a packed student section, earning a fifth straight league title. The team now heads to NCS playoffs with the #1 seed in Division 2 and will host Vintage in the first round at home on Wednesday, February 15 at 7pm. 


CONGRATULATIONS TO CAMPO'S WRESTLING TEAM! On February 4, Campo's wrestling team qualified for NCS Dual for the first time since 2012 and placed third overall in their division. VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR GIRLS ON THE RUN Girls on the Run of the Bay Area is recruiting junior coaches for our spring season in Lamorinda. Are you looking for a way to make a positive impact and have fun? Volunteer as a junior coach with Girls on the Run of the Bay Area! Coaches work with 2 other trained adults to implement this nationally recognized program, which combines social, emotional skill building with fun running workouts for girls. More information here or contact Program Director Natalie Langsdorf.

NEW: JUDITH HEUMANN: ACTIVIST & UPSTANDER TO SPEAK AT ORINDA BOOKS Tuesday, February 28, 6:00-7:30pm, 276 Village Square, Orinda. Join Facing History for an evening of community-building and conversation around "Being Heumann," the acclaimed memoir from disability rights activist Judith Heumann. We’ll learn about Ms. Heumann’s life, her landmark civil rights activism, and how we can all be upstanders and advocates in our communities today. Light appetizers and refreshments will be served. Register here.


NEW: CAMPO STUDENT LEADERS CO-CREATE MURAL TO HANG AT LP Campo student leaders and Los Perales Elementary school students have accomplished a beautiful artistic collaboration. The mural debuted at Campo this week and is up for everyone to see. Students will be presenting it to LP on February 27. The mural is the completion of LP's application to be designated a No Place for Hate school. 


REPAIRING THE WORLD: STORIES FROM THE TREE OF LIFE What if your community turned a blind eye to acts of aggression and did nothing to speak out against hate? Please join DEIB for this free film event depicting how the city of Pittsburg has come together to fight hate and extremism in the aftermath of the shooting at the Tree of Life Synagogue. The showing is at Del Valle Theater in Walnut Creek on Thursday, March 9 from 7-9pm. The movie runs 80 minutes, and there will be a Q&A session with director, Patrice O'Neill, after the film. Register for the event here.


ATTENTION STUDENT ATHLETES INVOLVED IN WOMEN'S SPORTS! The Voice In Sport Foundation (VISF) has introduced to congress the Fair Play for Women Act that will strengthen TITLE IX through better education, stronger enforcement, and greater transparency in data and reporting. Use YOUR voice by joining the VIS Advocate Program to receive FREE advocacy training and contribute to gender equity at your school. All advocates gain access to the VOICEINSPORT platform where they can meet with experts in sports psychology, nutrition, and talk one on one with their favorite college and professional women athletes!



AAPI STUDENT LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE This year's Asian Pacific Youth Leadership Project (APYLP) conference will be held both virtually and in-person. The three virtual conference days are on March 30, 31, and April 2; the one in-person conference day will be on Saturday, April 1, in Sacramento, CA. For more information visit here. PARENT EDUCATION ABOUT RACIAL CONSCIOUSNESS Next session is Thursday, February 23, from 5:00-7:00pm. The Orinda School District is offering a Parent Education Event about Racial Consciousness with Dr. Lori Watson, founder and CEO of Race-Work. NEW: MEF MARCH MADNESS TIP-OFF EVENT During the month of March, you will have many opportunities to support local businesses and give back to Campolindo. Save the date for our March Madness Tip-Off event at Canyon Club March 7 from 5-8pm. There will be live music and a raffle, and 10% of sales (including takeout!) will go to MEF.  


NEW: STUDENT PHOTO CONTEST MEF Sponsor, Moraga parent, and Realtor Mandy Kilpatrick is running a photo contest for students during the month of March! Students should submit their photos of Moraga for a chance to win a $50 gift card.  See details here.

SENIOR CLASS NEWS

NEW: SAVE THE DATE! Our Senior Parent Meeting is currently slated for March 21.   Please attend to learn more about the final Senior events celebrated at school. You will not want to miss this meeting when we discuss and distribute Senior Memory Collages that we ask you to create and delineate the events that take over the month of May. Look forward to the Senior Ball and Grad Night theme reveals in mid-March! The dates you can already put on the calendar: Senior Ball - May 6, Grad Night - May 26 immediately after Graduation.


THANK YOU TO ALL PARENT VOLUNTEERS! Special thanks to senior moms Amy Hiett and Lynne Fiorindo to helping to host last week's Senior Breakfast! The seniors really enjoyed getting together for the traditional count down milestone event.


UPDATE NAVIANCE As your college admission decisions come in, update Naviance with those decisions. This helps us understand the current admissions landscape so that we can counsel Juniors appropriately about those schools.

  4. Attend College & Career Center Academies 
  5. Research colleges using Naviance (SuperMatch and Scattergrams) and CollegeBoard.org.  
  6. Maintain your grades and get support if needed.
