December 2022 Newsletter
The Peoria Regional Office of Education would like to extend a Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year to all that we serve. 2022 brought its challenges and its joys. Our hope is for an even brighter 2023!

Many traditions celebrate this season with light. Lights are on trees, on houses, and on lit candles on altars or in sacred spaces. It is a reminder to us all that as the light shrinks with the darkest days in the darkest part of the year, that there is always a light. The light will continue to shine even on the darkest of days, and we will again be in the sun moving towards the longest, brightest days. It sure can be hard to remember as trying to do school between Thanksgiving and the winter break can be a real slog! As you leave school, and it is already dark, check out the lights on your way home. We celebrate this season because it reminds us that what looks like death and dark things are simply a pause before it all explodes back to life in spring!

The Peoria Regional Office of Education wishes you joy, peace and rest this holiday season. Thank you for all that you do for the children and families of Peoria County!

It’s Official, PRLC is Moving!
It is bittersweet to announce that Peoria Regional Learning Center (PRLC) will be moving to their new home in January, 2023. Since the school began over a decade ago, the staff and students at Peoria Regional Learning Center have enjoyed all that Wildlife Prairie Park has to offer, from breathtaking views to nature walks through the park.

With the assistance of the Peoria Regional Office of Education, PRLC will begin a new partnership with the Peoria Park District in their move to the Fransican Recreation Complex, 908 N Sterling Ave, West Peoria, IL. Teacher Institute will be held Monday, January 9, 2023, with students beginning in their new school on Tuesday, January 10, 2023.

Wildlife Prairie Park has been a gracious partner with PRLC since the school began, with the park staff embracing the philosophy of the school, students, and staff. The move to the new location at the Franciscan Recreational Complex will allow for further development of the student’s college and career possibilities in work experience and career exploration, as well as creating new partnerships, relationships, and collaboration with area schools and businesses. PRLC is looking forward to forging a new relationship with the Peoria Park District and to offer their students new career and educational opportunities within the City of Peoria.
