National Ice Cream for Breakfast Day! - Feb 4


Join Sugar Bowl in the Center for the Arts on Saturday, February 4, from 9am to 9pm for Affogatos (espresso over ice cream), Cinnamon Roll Sundaes, and Cereal Shakes created with two American favorites (hint: one is cinnamon flavored and one is fruity). Did you know you can order online any day of the week and we'll have it ready for pick up? Music for Hope and Reconciliation with 29:11 International Exchange - Feb. 4 & 5


The South African singing ensemble 29:11 International Exchange comes to Luther February 4-5, kicking off their spring tour. Their mission is to facilitate hope and reconciliation through music, cross-cultural relationships, and individual artist development. All are invited to a community Sing-and-Share on Sat., Feb. 4 at 7p.m., and Gospel Worship on Sun., Feb. 5 at 11a.m. Both events take place in Jenson, Noble Recital Hall. 


Symphony Orchestra Homecoming Concert - Feb. 5


In conjunction with the Dorian Orchestra Festival, Symphony Orchestra will perform their Vienna Residency Homecoming Concert on Sunday, Feb. 5, at 7:30pm in the CFL Main Hall.

The Center for Sustainable Communities invites you and your friends to a celebration of Luther College’s progress towards carbon neutrality. We'll be making an announcement, plus revealing more about Luther’s reductions in campus greenhouse gas emissions and our next steps toward 100% carbon neutrality. There will be treats! Center Stage Series: LADAMA - Feb 9


From Venezuela, Brazil, Colombia and the US, the four women of LADAMA harness traditions from their respective countries, singing in Spanish, Portuguese and English. They describe themselves as being "on a quest to discover musical and cultural intersections, transcend boundaries, and defy norms." And they rock. There will be room for dancing! SPIN Theatre Presents Outlaws AUDITIONS - Feb 15


Outlaws is an original one act musical, written by current Luther students Tyler Belanger and Elliot Olson. Auditions will be held in CFA Studio II on February 15th from 5-9pm. Prepare a one minute memorized monologue and 16-32 bars of a memorized song a capella or with a track. Sign up for an audition time on the CFA callboard. Performance is March 31, 9:30pm.



Black History Month at Luther


Luther College invites everyone to recognize Black History Month this February by attending a series of events on campus. The series features international music performances, a Mother Language Day workshop, and several speakers including the Black History Month Distinguished Lecture who will present on Feb 23.

Oneota Review First Submission Deadline - Feb. 10


Want to see your original work in print? The Oneota Review is now accepting submissions! We accept student-created work including artwork, poems, flash fiction (1500 word limit), photographs, videos, music, and more. Submit up to 5 pieces to oneotareview@luther.edu by Feb. 10th at 5pm and receive feedback from our board! (The final submission deadline is March 17th, without feedback from the board.) We’d love to see your original creative works!



The TRIO Achievement Program has space for new students!

 

TRIO guides and encourages Luther students throughout their college journey by providing ongoing academic, personal, career, and financial advising, as well as financial support through grants and scholarships. Interested First Year or Sophomore students are encouraged to reach out directly to trio@luther.edu or stop by 107 Preus Library to learn more. Participants must be Pell-eligible, first-generation US citizens or permanent residents. Additional eligibility requirements apply.

Psychology Research


We are looking for participants in a study regarding revenge cravings. The study will take about an hour. Those in specific psychology classes may be able to earn extra credit. Seniors: Order Caps and Gowns Now!


Seniors, now is the time to order your cap and gown! Visit the Jostens website to place your order. There is no charge, but order now to ensure the proper fit. You will pick up your cap and gown during Grad Finale, March 8-9 from 9:30-1:30 in the Union. The deadline to order is Sunday, February 12th 2023!


Study Carrels for Seniors


Seniors: Individual study carrels are again available for reservation on a first-come, first-served basis in Preus Library. The carrels are located along the perimeter of the upper floor and are assigned for personal use on a per-semester basis. Email Eddy Atwell to request a senior carrel reservation for the spring. There are a limited number dedicated for this use.

Would you Like to Change your Spring Semester Meal Plan?


If 19 meals per week + $200 dining dollars is not preferred, on-campus students have the first 10 days of each semester to switch their meal plan. View your meal plan options before February 11.


Meal Plan 101:

A MEALS-PER-WEEK plan restarts every Monday morning with 1 meal swipe per meal period allowed.  

A BLOCK plan starts with a number of meals that deducts throughout the semester. Multiple meal swipes can be used per meal period for a friend or family member.

DINING DOLLARS* can be used anywhere you can buy food on campus

MEAL SWIPES** can only be used at the Caf and Grab-N-Go window.


*DINING DOLLARS left from fall semester DO roll over to the spring semester (but not from academic year to the next academic year). 

**MEAL SWIPES do not roll over to the spring semester.

Yam Haus Tickets on Sale


SAC Concerts is excited to welcome Yam Haus to campus for a special winter concert in the CFL on Sat., Feb. 25th. Originating from Minneapolis, Yam Haus is an indie-pop band with millions of streams across platforms on their 2018 debut album Stargazer and multiple EPs. Doors open at 7, and local band Holding Hemlock will play an opening set. Get tickets now at tickets.luther.edu- free with CAF or $15 without.



Volunteer for Caf to Community


Cafeteria to Community is a program that packages leftover food from the caf to deliver to local food pantries in Decorah. This is a great way to benefit the local community and prevent good food from being wasted. Shifts are on Sundays at 6pm and last about 45 minutes. Music for Hope and Reconciliation with 29:11 International Exchange

Soli Deo Gloria: Glorifying God through Understanding Associations of Health and Religiousness

Dr. Alyssa Cheadle '08, associate professor of psychology at Hope College (Holland, MI) will be giving a research talk on Tuesday evening, February 14 at 7:00 p.m. in Valders 206, entitled "Soli Deo Gloria: Glorifying God through Understanding Associations of Health and Religiousness." Luther College Ministries vs Wartburg College Ministries Food Drive

Luther College Little Free Pantry and Good Shepherd Lutheran will be collecting food for Decorah community pantry January 29th- February 12th. We are competing with Wartburg college! Who will collect the most amount of food for their local pantry? The losing college's pastor must lead a chapel wearing rival gear. Donations can be taken to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and to the College Ministries office in the CFL.
