Disability Allies Newsletter

This month we remember and honor the life and work of Judith "Judy" Heumann - widely regarded as "the mother" of the disability rights movement. Judy's lifelong advocacy helped to advance disability rights legislations such as Section 504, the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Judy was also responsible for leading the 504 Sit-in, the longest occupation of a federal building in history, which took place in San Francisco in 1977. Most recently, Judy co-authored her memoir, "Being Heumann", and was featured in the Oscar-nominated film Crip Camp: A Disability Revolution.

Come meet our staff, learn about our programs and resources, and connect with peers! Activities will include Disability Pride button-making and a zine/collage art table.
