GOOGLE EARTH

Are Google Earth and Google Maps the same thing?

Google Earth is 3D program for visualizing Earth through satellite imagery. Primarily an educational tool, it's meant for touring and exploring an area from a satellite view. It can be used on a browser, through a smartphone app, or through a computer application.

Google Maps, on the other hand, is a navigation tool, intended to help you get from one place to another.

One of the key features of Google Earth is Google Street View and brings you down to a street-level view of the world, letting you trek up and down roads where a 360-degree camera has been.

If you want to play with Google Earth, all you need to do is go to the website.

An interactive globe will load that you can spin around and rotate. If you zoom in, locations will become much clearer.

Since 2017, the app has been perfectly useable through a browser, however, the professional desktop version (Google Earth Pro) leverages more system resources than a browser and has more features (like the flight simulator).

PS - I like to use Google Earth to check out the parking opportunities and surrounding area of a location that I am driving to for the first time, e.g., doctor's office, store, restaurant, etc.
