KEEPING OUR PARK CLEAN AND SAFE

We’re committed to keeping Washington Market Park a safe and enjoyable place for everyone. We continue to work with NYC Parks to increase trash removal to keep the park cleaner. We've heard your concerns about rodent activity and are pleased to share that exterminators visited the park on October 7th. We are told results will be evident in the next few days and follow-ups are already planned.

Thank you for continuing to report any sightings or saftey issues via 311 (with exact locations and photos if possible) and via email. Your feedback helps keep the park safe for everyone. With these improvements and your support, we’re confident the park will be better than ever.

HALLOWEEN PARADE & PARTY

Join us for our annual Halloween parade and party! Wear your costumes and be ready for a dazzling performance by the incomparable Queer Big Apple Corp marching band.

The parade will begin at Greenwich Street & Beach Street at 1pm sharp then make its way south along Greenwich Street into Washington Market Park.

PARK RENOVATIONS COMING SOON

Great news! We’re thrilled to share that some exciting upgrades are coming to Washington Market Park in 2025! Many of you may have noticed that the paved areas are in need of repair, and the lawn is looking a bit bare. We’re addressing these concerns head-on!

Thanks to full funding from Council Member Christopher Marte, the NYC Parks Department will be upgrading our park’s pathways in 2025. The new, safer asphalt paths will enhance accessibility and improve the overall appearance of the park. 

We’re also looking forward to adding World’s Fair park benches and a new lawn with improved drainage. We decided to hold off on resodding the law this year so everyone could enjoy full park access for longer. 

While sections of the park will be temporarily closed for safety during these renovations, the tennis and basketball courts will remain open. We’ll share the exact schedule once it is available. 

Until then, please enjoy the gardens, playspaces and all of our upcoming fall events and activities. We can’t wait to share these exciting new upgrades with you in 2025!
