Flexibility/Mobility Training

Flexibility and mobility go hand in hand. The more flexible you are, the greater mobility you can achieve. Therefore, it is important to train for flexibility to increase mobility and achieve a greater range of motion in your workouts. You may ask, “What is the difference between flexibility and mobility?” What differentiates flexibility from mobility is that flexibility focuses on the ability of the muscle to stretch as far as possible. Mobility is restricted by limited muscle flexibility, which prevents complete joint articulation. To read more, visit asirecreation.org!

Intramural Leagues

Our popular sand volleyball tournament is approaching quickly! This is a great chance for students to hang out and play sand volleyball with their friends. Students can sign-up through our IM Leagues website, all you need is a partner and determination! Our tournaments are free for all students to join, and the winners will receive an Amazon gift card. 


The sand volleyball tournament will take place on Thursday, Oct. 17. Couldn’t find a buddy to join you? This doubles tournament welcomes walk-up participants. Our tournaments are a great way to socialize and familiarize yourself with the Intramural Programs that we offer here at the SRWC. 


Not interested in sand volleyball? That’s ok! We offer a variety of other sports events and tournaments coming up throughout the semester that you can participate in. So, make sure you check our website to see what tournaments are being hosted.

Rocktober Mini-challenges

Rocktober mini challenges

Rock & Outdoor Adventure (ROA) has monthly programs catering to folks of all skill and ability levels. Don't forget to check out our rock climbing challenges all October!

Our five challenges will focus on strength, speed, endurance and skill. Participants can earn raffle tickets simply by joining the challenges—1 ticket for attempting a new challenge, and 2 tickets for getting on the leaderboard. At the end of the month, we'll hold a raffle with five winners receiving fantastic outdoor prizes from Columbia and Mountain Hardwear.

Fitness Combine

Fitness Combine

Do you have what it takes to be crowned the SRWC's next top athlete? Join us on Oct. 16 to compete in our Fitness Combine inspired by the NFL Combine to test your skills in our event with activities such as the 40-yard dash, vertical jump, broad jump, bench press and medicine ball throw. Prizes will be awarded for first through third place in both the men's and women's divisions. This event runs from 5 to 6 p.m. at the Main Gym! Sign up through our SRWC GO app.

Journey through the foundational pillars of strength training in our exclusive Bench, Squat and Deadlift Workshop Series. Whether you’re a beginner eager to learn the ropes or an experienced lifter looking to refine your technique, this series is your gateway to mastering the Big 3! Our next workshop is on Oct. 16 from 12 to 1 p.m. at the Fitness Floor.
