A Message from Teresa

I was working late and decided that I would treat myself to a pizza. I went on the site of my favourite pizza shop and went through the millions of choices. I noticed though that the restaurant clearly understood that people like me would get easily overwhelmed. So, I did have dozens of toppings to choose from but there were choices already highlighted that I guess were popular or made sense. Then I could just agree and do nothing or adjust.  In our work each day we encourage all kinds of choice, all over the place, all the time. Important to that effort is the idea that we ensure we are supporting people to make choices that are meaningful. A thousand choices that I have no understanding or experience with are not real choices. It is often our role to line up experiences and information to help people get to know their own minds, their preferences and who they want to be.  Not completely different from all the efforts we are making here at CLTH to honour inclusion, making safe places where people can bring their whole selves and feel seen. There are families, adults and staff members all interacting here, doing great things each day, we are striving to make a place where everyone can feel that they can make choices, be creative, offer their gifts and that those gifts will be honoured and received. We have had a delightful summer of choice and inclusion in all of our communities, thanks for the support and all the gifts that we have been able to honour, on purpose, and in choosing to. Here is to a full fall of further choices to make safe and dreaming spaces for everyone.

Happy Birthday Canada!

Camp Week and Soaking up the Sunshine!

Happy Halloween!

Halloween is a holiday celebrated each year on October 31, and Halloween 2024 will occur on Thursday, October 31. The tradition originated with the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain, when people would light bonfires and wear costumes to ward off ghosts. In the eighth century, Pope Gregory III designated November 1 as a time to honor all saints. Soon, All Saints Day incorporated some of the traditions of Samhain. The evening before was known as All Hallows Eve, and later Halloween. Over time, Halloween evolved into a day of activities like trick-or-treating, carving jack-o-lanterns, festive gatherings, donning costumes and eating treats.
