Players of the Season

Congratulations to another round of Players of the Season for the fall! In order to recognize players who stood out this past season, FC Richmond's Junior Board asked travel team coaches to select a player who demonstrated outstanding teamwork, leadership, attitude, work ethic, skills or a combination of these qualities. Each player selected is highlighted on FC Richmond's social media platforms. Great job to all who were recognized!

United Soccer Coaches Convention Highlights

Several of FC Richmond's coaches and staff traveled to the United Soccer Coaches Convention in Philadelphia last month. In addition to attending educational lecture sessions and field demonstrations, it was a great opportunity to stay apprised of the latest technology and soccer resources available.

FC Richmond Directors, Mac Phillips and Trip Dunville are seen here with the Premier League Trophy. Mac also had the opportunity to meet Brad Friedel, USMNT goalkeeper from 1992-2002. Friedel was also a professional player in Europe with most of his career in England. 

Travel Tryouts Coming Soon

It's almost time to register for travel soccer tryouts for the 2023-2024 season! Tryouts will begin in March and run through May.

Coach Spotlight

Beyond the Game Player of the Month

Meet FC Richmond’s Gabriel Renes. Gabriel is a former Magic Elite player and is a new coach with the FC Richmond community. During the spring of 2022, he unfortunately was subjected to an injury in the state finals for the James River High School soccer team. He has since taken time to recover and join the FC Richmond staff as the head coach of the U12 Mystx Classic team, the U11/U12 Classic Forrest team and by helping goalkeepers.

Gabriel has gone “Beyond the Game” by creating fun team building activities for his teams to help create on and off the field chemistry. He takes his FC Richmond teams to interactive experiences like bowling and kickball.

Additionally, Gabriel has served as a volunteer coach in India. He travels back to India to volunteer with underprivileged kids. For thirteen years he lived in India where his father owns a soccer club. These experiences have led him to strive to be the best coach and person he can be. He loves seeing his players not only develop on the field but also off the field as well. He wants to ensure that work ethic, responsibility, respect, and commitment are instilled in each of his players. Gabriel knows that to go “Beyond the Game” you need to “go the extra mile so that things are done with excellence”.

Non-Stop Soccer Summer Camps

Non-Stop Soccer Summer Camp registration is now open! Under the direction of FC Richmond's Executive Director, Trip Ellis, Non-Stop Soccer offers high quality camps and clinics for players of all skills levels.

All summer camps (except the Fast Footwork camps) will take place at Huguenot Park from 8:30am-11:30am.

Summer Recreational Camps (ages 6-12):

Recreational Camp II, July 17-21

Recreational Camp III, July 30- August 4

Recreational Camp IV, August 14-18

Summer Advanced Camps (travel team players ages 8-15):

Shooting & Finishing Camp, June 26-30

Summer Fast Footwork Foundations Camps (travel team players):

Session I U9-U11, June 19-20, 9:00am-11:00am at Bon Air Baptist Church
