9 Highlights from Our Recent Consumer Survey on Autonomous Vehicles

The automotive industry is at a pivotal juncture. Advancements in technology—particularly Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and autonomous driving—are reshaping consumer preferences and driving purchasing decisions. Some examples of how this technology has evolved:

  • Major automakers are investing in ADAS technologies for enhanced safety and full autonomy.
  • Chassis and suspension systems are also changing to accommodate ADAS, automation and electrification.
  • The integration of ADAS and 5G is further driving vehicle connectivity innovation and increasing cybersecurity demand. Automotive interiors are adopting driver monitoring systems (DMS) and occupant monitoring systems (OMS) owing to regulations and automation.

S&P Global Mobility surveyed 8,000 consumers across eight countries in 2024, shedding light on the evolving landscape of consumer expectations and behaviors in the era of autonomous driving. PAGA Reform Explained: Key Takeaways for Employers

On July 1, Governor Gavin Newsom signed two bills that reform aspects of PAGA, with the reforms taking effect retroactively to June 19. The reforms include:

Penalty caps: Absolute maximum exposure could now be as little as 15% or 30% of the penalty set, depending on the steps that the employer has taken either prior to receiving the PAGA notice or immediately after receiving the notice.

More robust right to cure: Prior to these reforms, almost nothing under PAGA was curable.

Specific mechanisms depending on if you’re a larger or small business.

Changes in standing: Recent court opinions had made standing so broad that the worker simply had to allege that they experienced one violation, and then they could sue on behalf of every other worker in California for any other violation under the Labor Code, which led to a lot of abuse. The reforms limit standing to say that the plaintiff must have personally experienced the alleged violations and they must file their case within the one-year time period.

Nonprofit exception: There is now a narrow exception for some nonprofits.

The reason being is that a lot, if not all, of the most important sales success traits don’t require you to be a member of Mensa nor do they require you to be a born socialite equipped with a silver tongue. So, what are these key success traits that almost anyone from any walk of life can have? Here they are. Source: John Chapin
