Thank you all for praying and/or donating to the work at LaMalah Children's Home in Kenya. Brother Ndungu writes this week:
Shabbat shalom, my sister:
We pray you are all doing well. All is well despite the usual. We are geared towards the Atonement as we have celebrated Yom Teruah for Ethanim(Tishrei).
One of our girls, Esther Wangari has a problem in her left hand. She has been with us for a considerable number of years. Apparently she had fallen and broken her hand before being admitted to LaMalah .From time to time, she complained of pain and got medication. The hand though looks like it needs corrective surgery.Of late the pain got a bit severe and the hand was swollen. We took her to a government facility, and she got a date with the doctor for November. We sought a second opinion the following day from a private doctor. The cost is prohibitive. He himself advised us to await the government doctor's appointment. Some tests were done and he said she got arthritis since when she broke the hand, whoever plastered the hand did a shoddy work.
We have learnt of an organization not far from Nairobi who teach about organic farming. It's an 18 month course and deals with almost anything agriculture;-greenhouses, soil testing, organic and indigenous seeds, animal husbandry and even preparing meals. We may consider getting someone to study there. The fees are highly subsidised.
The children continue to appreciate the power of compassion and generosity from you all. We pray there be no chaos in this country so they continue studying. The transformation of each and ever yone one of the children is very visible since they came to us. We are doing all we can, putting their best interests first.
We thank you and hope and pray you all have blessed Feasts!
Shalom,
Peter
*Just a note...when we checked the Creation Gospel mailbox this week, we had donations to cover the cost of the surgery mentioned in Brother Ndungu's letter. We will be transferring those funds next week!
