supporting youth mental health
The FYIdaho Team is Growing!
Ruth York, Executive Director
February greetings to all. I am happy to announce the addition of Parker Luce to our staff. Parker will be working with youth and families for us, putting his social work education to good use. He is the first FYIdaho employee to work directly in both arenas, and we are excited at the crossover! This dual role will require lot of time and exposure to our work, so you will start seeing/hearing Parker with us a lot, shadowing our efforts and starting to take on pieces here and there. We are very excited to welcome Parker to FYIdaho where he can contribute a lot to our youth, families, staff and community partners.

Warmly,
Ruth York
Executive Director

YES Medicaid News
During the federal COVID-19 public health emergency, states were not allowed to remove anyone from Medicaid unless they moved out of the state, asked to be removed, or died. This was called continuous Medicaid enrollment or Medicaid Protection.

Recent federal law allows The Department of Health and Welfare (DHW) to remove Idahoans who no longer qualify for Medicaid starting April 1.

There are about 150,000 people currently enrolled in Medicaid who either don't qualify or have not been in contact with DHW during the public health emergency. Starting Feb. 1, and continuing through July, DHW will send out about 30,000 re-evaluation notices a month.
  • You will have 60 days to respond or you are automatically removed.
  • If they respond in that time, you will be re-evaluated for Medicaid eligibility.
  • Those who do not qualify for Medicaid will be able to discuss their options for accessing health insurance.

Those who currently receive Medicaid should take action to make sure they receive notices about their benefits and re-evaluations. They should report any changes in their household information, including phone number and address. To report any changes or confirm information, call DHW at 877-456-1233, email MyBenefits@dhw.idaho.gov, or visit idalink.idaho.gov

Hosted by the National Family Support Technical Assistance Center, “Family Connections” is a virtual community for parents and caregivers who support loved ones facing substance use and/or mental health challenges. Families tell us they need credible resources, guidance on accessing help, and the opportunity to connect with others facing similar challenges. Monthly gatherings will focus on a specific topic, provide tips and tools, and offer the opportunity to network with other families. Family Connections takes place the first Thursday of every month at 1:30 p.m. ET.
