LETTER FROM KBR President, Sharon Gibson:

Mahalo & Aloha to our Kaua’i Board of REALTOR® Members,

It’s been an absolutely transformative year. No words can deeply express my gratitude to each and every one of you that volunteered and participated with different classes, events, and meetings we held throughout 2022!

Coming out of Covid we hit the ground running with hybrid events. The fear of exposing each other to another danger always hung over our heads but we persevered, and we found solace in seeing each other face to face, fist bumping in person, and some even embracing the warm hug of an Associate we had not seen in a long time. Covid forever changed how we do business.

With the guidance of our Immediate Past President, Martie Law, we successfully opened Escrow on the Kaua’i Board of Realtors® future home, and we closed in the first quarter of 2022, after many years of searching for a permanent home, I look forward to seeing the move from Kukui Grove to Rice Street in the next few years.

With the help of many of our Education Chair, Shyla Ayau, we initiated a new program, our Cultural Education, where we were able to learn and volunteer with other organizations like Waipa Foundation and Malama Huleia

We brought back our much loved Caravans, every week they seem to be busier and busier.

Our RPAC Trustee, Donna Rice & GAC Chair, Heidi Schemp, hosted and amazing meet and greet session with our Candidates.

And with our PR and YPN Chairs, Emily Manuel, Nani Leininger & Tina Appleby we partnered with multiple organizations throughout the year gathering donations or putting in sweat equity through, Hawaii Foodbank, YWCA, Nana’s House, Child and Family Services, Habitat for Humanity, and the County of Kaua’i

I want to thank the 2022 Board of Directors and Nani Sadora, our Association Executive, for your patience with me as I learned with all of you. You are dear to me and you helped shape the future of the Board.

And lastly but most importantly, Toni Souza-Ishimoto, held my hand through the years, because my Presidency wasn’t where it all began, it began when I was told how great I could be just by serving on a committee. And when I transitioned from Realtor member, to Committee member, to Committee Chair, then to Member of the Board of Directors, Toni has been a steady companion on that journey and I am forever grateful for her not only as a person but her value as team member with the Kaua’i Board of Realtors.

Good Luck to our new President, Louis LaFratta, although I know you definitely don’t need it! You’re in the presence of great leaders in our community.

Hau’oli Makahiki Hou,

Sharon Gibson,

2022 Kauai Board of Realtors® President
