Sunday Worship on August 25

10 a.m.

In-Person and Online

This Sunday, we will hear a story from John's gospel when some of Jesus' followers find his teaching too difficult to accept. They choose to no longer follow him. Sometimes Christian faith is portrayed as if it is easy and will lead to nothing but peace and joy. While it does lead to peace and joy, sometimes Christian faith is hard to embrace. Sometimes it can be confusing. What are we to do when it feels like following Jesus seems just too challenging? Pastor Jeremy's message is called "This Teaching Is Hard."

This Sunday, Sandy is away so Jeff and the Holy Cymbals Band will lead music, Wes Burian will be the storyteller, and Peter will serve as liturgist. We hope you join us -- in-person or online -- for a meaningful time of worship!

Worship Schedule Change in September

Starting Sunday, September 8, the Tigard UMC worship service will begin at 9:30 a.m.

Why can't we continue to worship at 10 a.m. like we have all summer? Our wonderful choir director, Caley Barstow, has a second music job on Sunday mornings after our service. By worshiping at 9:30 a.m. we make it possible for Caley to continue offering joyful leadership to our Sanctuary Choir.

Second Home: Become a host for a local High School student

Hundreds of high school students in our county experience homelessness on their own each year. These are students not living with their families. They need a safe and stable place to call home in order to thrive and continue working toward high school graduation. At this moment, there is a Tigard High School student looking for a host, and more referrals will surely come in from the schools once the school year begins.

If you have space in your home and are interested in learning more, please reach out to Amy Brownell at abrownell@emoregon.org.
