Free services for seniors highlighted at Encinitas Chamber’s upcoming Senior Expo

Calling all Seniors! Did you know that the Encinitas Rotary has a free service to help with household fixes? The Encinitas Rotary’s Home Team was created as a community service for seniors having a difficult time with many common household repairs. In some cases, the cost of hiring a handyman or contractor to perform minor repairs is prohibitive, or there may not be any family able or willing to assist.

North Coast Symphony

The North Coast Symphony Orchestra (NCSO) is a nonprofit community orchestra based in Encinitas. Founded in Encinitas in 1947, it has been continuously operating for more than 75 years with a current roster of over 50 musicians.


Its mission is to provide a live music-making and listening experience to inspire a love of orchestral and chamber music for the members of the orchestra and the communities it serves. Under the direction of Maestro Daniel Swem, the NCSO performs five concerts yearly, including a summer pops, a holiday concert, and three symphonic music concerts.

IRS Tax Extension

The Internal Revenue Service offered a lifeboat of sorts Tuesday to California residents and businesses floundering in the atmospheric river: More time to pay their income taxes.


The agency announced that taxpayers in any county covered by a federal emergency declaration would have until May 15 to file their income tax returns for 2022. So far, 31 of the state's 58 counties are in that group, including Los Angeles, Orange, San Diego and Ventura counties; if the declaration is extended to more counties, the IRS will grant them the extra time as well.

SANDAG prepares and updates a Regional Plan every four years in collaboration with the 18 cities and County of San Diego, as well as regional, state, and federal partners. Now that the 2021 Regional Plan is being implemented, development of the 2025 Regional Plan is underway! The new Plan is slated for adoption in late 2025.

Business Launch Academy

The Business Launch Academy is a business incubation program designed to meet the specific needs and support the launch and building of small and micro businesses across San Diego and Imperial Valley. The Business Launch Academy is designed around a combination of business education, guided lab time to put the knowledge gained into immediate use and 1:1 mentorship to maintain accountability and get direct guidance related to the participant's specific business. This is a 40+ hour hands-on intensive program led by experts covering business launch essentials.

Community Enhancement Grant

Applications are being accepted for the Community Enhancement ARPA Augmentation Grant and Neighborhood Reinvestment Program. In addition, the County Board of Supervisors allocated over $25 million dollars for small business and non-profits that have been impacted by covid-19 (less than 20 employees). While there is no deadline to apply, there is limited funding so those interested are encouraged to apply in the coming months.
