Cedar - Isles Plan is open for a 45-day comment period

Your Feedback is Important!

Please note that the plan identifies water quality as its top priority. This is the direct result of local residents from CIDNA, Kenwood and East Isles neighborhood associations who worked to ensure that the plan would address deteriorating water quality of Cedar Lake, which is now categorized as eutrophic. (That condition produced the toxic blue-green algae that closed down Cedar Beach for several days last year). Environmental preservation is important to CIDNA; it is named in its mission, vision and statement of values.

You can learn more about the current condition of Cedar Lake in the Barr report commissioned by the Park Board here.

Board Report: At its February meeting, the CIDNA board

  • Discussed the Park Board’s Cedar-Isles Plan, which is open for public comment through March 10. The Environmental Preservation Committee is developing a CIDNA response and asked for input from board members.
  • Received updates on SWLRT, including a construction pause caused by encountering a concrete impediment near the CICA building, vibration monitoring, safety and sewer issues.
  • Heard from Scott Graham, the first declared candidate for the Minneapolis City Council Ward 7 seat.
  • Discussed 2023 social events for the neighborhood.
  • Discussed board goals for 2023.

January Crime Report

The Speedway on Lake Street was robbed at gunpoint with no one hurt and one home was broken into with nothing stolen. Three cars were stolen, with two of them having keys in the car (one was running). Three cars were broken into with valuables stolen (and visible). These serve as good reminders to lock your car if it is on the street and take the keys as well as not leave anything of value in your car any time of day or night.
