Anointing of the sick - Wednesday, March 8, Noon Mass

In the Church's Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick, it is Jesus Christ who touches the sick to heal them from sin – and sometimes even from physical ailment. His cures were signs of the arrival of the Kingdom of God. The core message of his healing tells us of his plan to conquer sin and death by his dying and rising.

The Rite of Anointing tells us there is no need to wait until a person is at the point of death to receive the Sacrament. A careful judgment about the serious nature of the illness is sufficient.

Migrant Worker Hygiene Kit

This year the parish again offers the opportunity during Lent to collect hygiene items for farmworkers in our community. Every spring, an estimated 150,000 farmworkers pour into North Carolina to harvest cucumbers, tobacco, apples, sweet potatoes, green peppers, and Christmas trees. At the height of the growing season, farm workers often work 12-14 hours a day in the hot sun with few breaks, and the average farmworker earns less than $11,000 a year. Would you be able to feed and support your family for that? This weekend you can pick up a plastic bag and a list of items needed for each kit in the gathering space. Please return the bag/s to the barrels in the gathering space no later than Sunday, March 26.

A 36-year-old mother of four children, is in dire need of financial assistance. Her three-year-old daughter suffers from Sickle-Cell Anemia, a terrible disease that will require a great deal of medical attention. As a result of all these difficulties, the mother has fallen behind on her rent and utilities. The family would appreciate your prayers and support.
