We're eagerly counting down the days until we welcome you to Residence! To ensure a smooth and exciting start to your journey at Queen's, it's crucial to stay updated by regularly checking your Queen’s email,the Move-In page, and the Student Residence & Dining Portal.


In this week's issue of the student newsletter, we dive into key details you'll need to know—like Residence fees and the guest policy during move-in weekend and the early weeks of term. Get Residence Ready


There is so much to do and remember before you arrive on campus! Complete these checklist items before arriving on campus:


Complete the Residence Pre-Arrival Module 

Complete the It Takes All of Us online learning program

Move-In Time!


If you haven't yet selected your move-in time slot, this is what you need to do:


  • Upload your photo on SOLUS for your student card (it may take 24-48 hours to process)
  • Read and sign the residence contract on the Student Residence & Dining Portal 
  • Choose a move-in time slot, depending on availability. The majority of the time slots will be available on Saturday, August 31. There are 2-hour time slot options from 8am – 2pm. Limited spaces are available on Friday, August 30, after 5pm, for a pro-rated fee.

Residence Fees


Your residence fees will be posted to SOLUS on August 26, 2024. For more information on how to pay your fees, please visit the Office of the University Registrar website.

Guest Policy for the Start of Term


Guests are not permitted between August 30 – September 16, 2024, between 12 am and 8 am on a daily basis. The guest policy can be found in section 3.11 of the Residence Contract.

Navigating First-Year Frenzy


Welcome to Navigating First Year Frenzy, where your academic survival kit includes more than just caffeine and ramen noodles! We’ll have snacks and activities/games weekly. Led by seasoned therapists, we’ll tackle the University chaos with laughter and a touch of sarcasm. We’ll guide you through stress reduction, adjusting to academic demands, navigating campus and adulting.

GOOD TO GO Initiative


You are automatically enrolled into the GOOD TO GO Reusable Container Initiative.  When you check-in, you will receive a green carabiner clip in your move-in package. Bring your carabiner to a food counter at retail food locations on campus and participate in the sustainable swap and exchange of carabiners to save the $0.75 single-use fee on select take-out containers.
