Hello Colt Families!
News from Our Student Council:
Eighteen members of the Middle School Student Council attended the Pennsylvania Association of Student Councils Region B Leadership Conference on Friday, February 17. PASC is a statewide organization that brings together student leaders from across the commonwealth. Region B is comprised of member schools from Allegheny and Washington County. The conference, titled “Leadership is Groovy” included a Keynote Address, breakout workshops, and advisor networking. Students heard from Emma G., an award winning, speaker, songwriter, and youth empowerment coach. She discussed her journey of using songwriting to recover from multiple brain surgeries. In addition to attending sessions designed to help grow leadership skills, four groups of students were accepted to present workshops at this conference. They presented workshops titled, “Thoughts of the Mind,” “Peer Pressure and How to Avoid It,” “Acknowledging Acceptance,” and “Getting Your Priorities Straight with Goal Setting.’ Each group presented their workshop twice to students from other schools. We are so proud of their willingness to share their knowledge with other student leaders. The members of the Student Council can’t wait to put their new leadership skills into action at the middle school.
