There's so much nice in this newsletter, and see if you can spot some "good trouble" (Hint: it happened in Nashville!). ACSF programs have concluded a wonderful fall semester of magnifying the genius, encouraging the curiosity, celebrating the joy, and supporting the aspirations of our students, teachers and staff.

The Racial Equity Ambassadors and DREAM Team Mentors shared their wisdom with national audiences, In Real Life After-School concluded our winter session "8 Days of Giving," TAPAAS Teaching Artist residencies have now served over 800 students, and our Educator Grants and Professional Development funds are being put into action!

The ACSF offices will be closed for the holidays Monday, December 26th-Monday, January 2nd, but we will be receiving year-end gifts through December 31st!

In November, student leaders from the Racial Equity Ambassador Program and the DREAM (Dedicated. Responsible. Enthusiastic. After-School. Mentors) Team led a panel presentation on youth leadership at the national Community Schools Leadership Retreat. United Way of Asheville-Buncombe County worked with the Coalition of Community Schools and the Institute of Educational Leadership to bring movers and shakers from all across the nation to Asheville to learn more about the exceptional Community School strategy here in Buncombe County. Students led a robust discussion on the unique contributions that youth leadership provides, and how ACSF has cultivated these opportunities through our programming. Learn more about the Community Schools Leadership Retreat.
Earlier this month, senior leaders from the Racial Equity Ambassador Program traveled to Nashville to present at the national Leaning Forward Education conference with our amazing partners at the Equity Collaborative! We were so proud to watch these students take the stage and speak about the importance of culturally responsive teaching. ACSF is honored to share our work with local, state-wide, and national audiences to advance opportunities for ALL students to thrive.
These students have no shortage of holiday cheer! Last week, In Real Life (IRL) After-School concluded our annual 8 Days of Giving mini-session! Students focused on making gifts for friends and family through fun, hands-on clubs such as All That Glitters ornament making, Spice and Everything Nice DIY spa products, Baking Spirits Bright, Cozy Candle Making, and more! Our Santa's Elves club also gave back to community partners such as Debra Campbell with the City of Asheville, United Way, and Grove Park Inn by delivering handmade gifts.
Supporting the amazing educators and staff in Asheville City Schools is one of our greatest honors! This fall, ACSF awarded over $25,000 in Grants to Educators and Professional Development funding to fuel innovation and inspire creativity in our classrooms. From funding the student newspaper at Asheville High and purchasing PE equipment at Lucy Herring, to providing funds for educators as they complete their National Board Certifications, ACSF does whatever it takes to support those who love our students the most!
