THE LIFE OF MOSES – LESSON 11
PHARAOH’S HARSH RESPONSE

Pharaoh rejected Moses’ request. He accused him and Aaron of trying to get the slaves a few days of rest from their construction labors. His harsh response was to put more work upon the slaves and make it more difficult for them (Exodus chapter 5).
His command was twofold. He ordered their workload to be increased and would not allow complaints (vain words) about it.
The other part of his command made the work more difficult. The bricks for building were made of mud and straw which had to be mixed, formed, and hardened. The straw was a binding agent to make it strong, much the same way that our concrete has rock, stone, or shell added. Without these it is weak and brittle.
Pharaoh had been providing the straw. Now he said the Hebrew slaves would have to gather their own straw in addition to the added construction load.
When the workers were unable to fulfill the new higher daily quota, severe measures were taken. The Hebrew “straw bosses” [officers] were beaten by their Egyptian taskmasters. They blamed Moses and Aaron for the terrible turn of events, and the Hebrews confronted them about it in anger.
God then reaffirmed His promise with Moses. In Exodus chapter 6:9, Moses brought God’s message to the people, but they would not receive what he said due to their anger and the new intensity of Egypt’s cruelty.
God told Moses to go to Pharaoh again for the purpose of taking His people out of Egypt.
In our day there are multitudes of people who do not believe the bible, especially the accounts written long ago in the Old Testament. I love when archaeology proves the bible’s accuracy. This is the case with the bricks and straw.
At Pithom, Egypt, the archaeologists Naville, (1883) and Kyle, (1908) found buildings where the lower courses of brick were filled with good, chopped straw. The middle courses had brick with less straw and included stubble plucked up by the root. The upper courses were pure clay with no straw or stubble. This was an amazing confirmation of the Genesis 5 account.
Faith demands that we believe, regardless of whether or not we can see in the natural that which we believe. However, it is beautiful when archaeology confirms what we see by faith. Archaeology does this so often for us.

TRANSFORMED

In the book of Romans Paul is teaching the former nonbelievers how to change from what they were into a new person in Christ. In chapter 12:1-2 he admonishes them about what it is that is necessary to do just that. He said, “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect will of God.”
Often, without being taught what God requires of us, a new Christian falls back into their old sinful habits. Paul is warning them that this is unacceptable. They are to present themselves sacrificially to God. Notice it does not say “God make me transformed.” No, it is an act of our will to CHOOSE transformation.
This comes through changing our mindset. We have the Holy Spirit within us at salvation that guides us into all truth [John 16:13.] Yet, how do we know what the truth is? Is it what the preacher or prophet says? Is it what we read on social media? No! Unless it lines up with the Word of God.
God’s word is truth. So, in order to be transformed, which means in Greek to “change, transfigure, and literally metamorphose” we must study God’s word. You could compare this transformation to a caterpillar changing into a butterfly. We literally are changed from the inside out as we study the word of God. God’s Word is alive. It speaks to our spirit as we read it.
In 2 Timothy 2:15 Paul admonishes Timothy, who is already a pastor, to “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”
God’s word guides us and supplies us. I remember years ago reading a verse in James 1:22 that brought immediate conviction to me. It said, “But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.” I remember saying to myself, “Oh my, I have heard it, but I am not doing it.” I repented and from then forward determined to be a doer of the word and not just a hearer of the word. I did not want to be deceived.
How about you? Do you take time to study the Word of God on your own, apart from hearing it in Church or even a bible study? God wants to talk to each of us individually. He has a plan that is designed just for “you.” You learn this plan as you study the word of God. He reveals himself to you and through his revelation of himself, you become transformed.
Take the time to do this and your life will be transformed!

A PROPHETIC WORD
AS GIVEN TO HELEN SANDERS
How often I would have you come aside and listen to what I would say, for there is much ahead that will require great faith and without hearing my voice you may fall into deep deception. For a very dark time is coming upon the land. There shall be many hours of chaos and the streets will be filled with the blood shed of the innocent. For, in this hour a cleansing wind is blowing across the land. I am in this wind. I am blowing this wind to bring people to a place of repentance and fear of the Lord again. For just as I visited the house of Moses in times past and caused a leader to be raised up, there were many things that came about through the work that I placed in his hands. I am looking for those that will have the same spirit and be willing to make a stand against leadership that is ungodly. For in this hour, there shall be many things come upon those that I would call the enemies of God. For, there are many that will say Lord, Lord, but I never knew them. They have never made me Lord, it is in name only. I am looking for those that have a heart like David, a heart that would be after me and would quickly repent when my spirit brings conviction. I am looking for those that would put their hand to the plow and not look back. Those that are willing to put their all on my altar and go forward without knowing the complete plan but knowing that I will guide them. I am resolute in bringing this about. There will be no glory given to any man that does not yield to my spirit. For the days on the earth will be so full of violence that many will faint. This is the time to say, no weapon formed against me will prosper and rise up and be as David with Goliath. Yes, there will be many Goliaths but the rock, Christ Jesus is in your hand, and all you have to do is fling that rock, which is the word of God, at the enemy and you will bring him to the ground. Oh, that my people could only see what they truly are made of. They look at the outer man, but the strength in this hour will not come from the outer man. It will come from the inner man, led by my Spirit. Oh, can’t you see what you can do through my power and name? This is not the hour to fear, for I would say that the fearful and liars will not inherit my kingdom. Only those with a resolve to stand for truth and be the remnant that will rise up will be saved in the hour ahead. I would not say look at others and say what about them, for I will deal with each individual on their own. Each one must account for their own actions. This is the time to look inwardly and not outwardly. Will you be that one? Will you carry my word into the gross darkness that is coming and is already here? Will you be the one to stand for truth when those around you compromise? If that is you, then you shall surely see victory in and through you saith the Lord. Now prepare, for the season at hand will reveal much in my people as to what they are leaning upon. Do not try to reason this out with your mind. The mind will fail you. Do not try to do battle in your own strength, for the flesh will fail you. Remember the words of old where I told my prophet, “Not by might, not by power, but by my Spirit, saith the Lord. You shall see mountains removed.” Now put some praise upon your lips and I will destroy the chains of prison that have bound you. Your praise will defeat those that would come against you. Hold no offense and hold no bitterness. Just walk in my power and love and you shall see victory saith the Lord.
