CRESCIT EUNDO: IT GROWS AS IT GOES

A few of us from Central went on a friendship walk around UNM a few weeks ago. We were encouraged to walk with people we did not know to learn about each other. The event's leader told us that when we take the time to learn from one another, we are less likely to judge another person who may be like the person we got to know. We live in a beautiful, diverse state and city. I wonder what we could learn from Our Neighbors' Experiences. How could it transform us?

On November 21 at 7 pm, we will have a 30-minute Zoom event to learn about our State and what makes it unique. Our guest speakers are Liliana, Lily, and Spurgeon. Lily is a bilingual Community Health Worker (CHW) and Peer Support Specialist, using her experience as a first-generation Latina and person in recovery to advocate for underrepresented voices in behavioral health. She is the Program Coordinator for the UNM Collegiate Recovery Center, the first in New Mexico. Lily is also the Outreach and Marketing Director for the NM Peer Coalition and Soul Recovery Café, supporting individuals in recovery. She holds a bachelor's degree in psychology and Spanish from UNM and is pursuing a Master's in Public Administration. Additionally, she serves on UNM's CASAA Community Advisory Board. Lily is very knowledgeable about our state and understands how its diversity influences life in Albuquerque. You are invited to join us and begin learning from one another and growing in more profound compassion for our neighbors by listening to their experiences. A link to the Zoom event will be coming soon!

On November 24, after the 11 a.m. service, our Altar Guild is inviting anyone to lunch and help to "hang the greens!" The Altar Guild has been working for weeks to refresh, renew, and repair our greens to decorate our church for Advent and Christmastide services. You may sign-up in the office or email Andy Stoker to get on the list for the fun!

WE NEED YOUR HELP!

La Mesa Presbyterian Church has invited churches in the area to serve our neighbors. For 30 years, La Mesa Presbyterian Church has engaged with this amazing ministry that serves about 1200 people. Central said YES! This is our kind of ministry: compassionate partnership and feeding our beloved!
