Highlights from This Month's Post

This month, we share two articles that examine:

  • The need for a new Earth Agenda to successfully protect the environment and promote economic and social sustainability.
  • Why popular protests are on the rise globally and how technology is helping.

"Earth is profoundly a public good, as is social cohesion and global sustainability," writes Khalid Malik. To preserve and protect it, "public and private action now need to be sharply scaled up." A new Earth Agenda that educates and inspires people is essential to move to an engaged global awareness that supports the extensive changes that are needed for a sustainable world.

Khalid Malik is the Co-Chair of the Global Sustainability Forum and the Special Advisor of the International Development Law Organization. Previously, he was the Director of the UNDP Human Development Report Office and Special Advisor of UNDP.

"Over the past five years, popular movements have brought down governments from Europe and Latin America to Africa and Asia," points out the editorial team at WPR. "And with the advent of new communication technologies and media platforms, what happens anywhere can be seen everywhere."
