David Discusses Seasonal Immune Health in our latest blog post...

As we move out of Winter season, herb use often shifts from overall immune system support to promoting a healthy immune system response function.

Nourishing immune herbs are useful for supporting healthy overall immune system response function. We see consumers use immune reservoir strengthening mushrooms and nourishing herbal tonics as well as a wider range of more direct immune response function herbs for seasonal support or longer-term support.

Expo West Recap

Last month David Winston and Beth Lambert attended Expo West, the biggest natural channel retail trade show of the year, in Anaheim, California. Much of their focus was on American Herbal Products Association (AHPA) events.

David was honored with the AHPA Service to Herbal Knowledge Award at the AHPA member meeting. The AHPA member meeting included many tributes to the late Michael McGuffin, who led AHPA as president for many years.

David was also one of the herbalists that led the Herb Walk that preceded the Expo show.

And Beth was re-elected to the AHPA Executive Committee.

Product Reformulations

The herbs in a formula may change occasionally, and for various reasons. David Winston's ongoing research may inspire a revision for an even better formula. Sometimes other factors warrant a change, such as an herb no longer being available due to sustainability or quality concerns. A company run by herbalists, like ours, has the flexibility to reformulate and replace an herb with one that will have similar effects and works well with the other botanicals in that blend.

David Winston's Reformulations:

Sinus Support Compound: We could no longer locate Eyebright that met our stringent quality standards. It has been replaced in this formula with Amla, an herb rich in polyphenols which gives it its activity, and Yerba Santa, an herb historically used for respiratory system support.

Full Moon Women's Anti-Spasmodic Compound: When we could no longer source Roman Chamomile, it was replaced with German Chamomile, an herb with similar activity.

Media update

We lost an industry leader early this year who helped shape the quality standards of many herbal products companies. Beth was one of the colleagues who commented upon the late Michael McGuffin’s profound impact.

A Word about Tariffs: Everyone is worried about tariffs, which are impacting prices across the board. Uncertainty is the biggest problem, because with the constant changes of policy it’s very difficult to plan. We will continue to evaluate the impact on our company as events develop, as every business is doing.
