Sending a son or daughter off to College or University can be one of life’s most difficult moments. Will your student adapt to their new environment? Will they meet new people? Will they be successful in their studies? All important pieces of their journey but none more important than their safety. As parents, have you researched the safety of your student’s new community? There are quite a few areas that should be important to parents or guardians, such as Fire Safety and Personal Safety, to highlight two. Those topics will be discussed during CASIA’s membership meeting on Thursday, February 16^th.  

Frank Novak is a fire service professional with 25 years in the industry. Frank is currently the Fire Marshal and Training Coordinator at Sacred Heart University (SHU) in Fairfield, CT. Frank started down the fire service path in 1998 when he joined the Long Hill Fire Department in Trumbull, CT at the age of 15. Frank remains an active firefighter and has been serving as the President of the Long Hill Fire Company #1 Inc since 2005. Frank began working as a Public Safety Patrol Officer at SHU on the Midnight Shift at SHU in April 2009. In March of 2013, he was transferred from the Midnight Shift to the Day Shift to focus on Fire Safety related issues. Shortly thereafter, he became a certified Fire Marshal and was eventually promoted to the rank of University Fire Marshal and Training Coordinator. He is a member of the Public Safety Command Staff and assists with the day to day operations of SHU Public

Safety. SHU is home to over 10,000 students and staff and is located about 45 minutes from New York City in Fairfield County.
