Project Updates
Deer Lakes Park Barn Solar Meadow

We are excited to announce a new project in Deer Lakes Park! We are partnering with Allegheny County to install install a 3.5-acre wildflower meadow near the park office barn. The meadow will be planted next to the recently installed solar array, which will soon provide all the electricity needed to achieve the park's net zero energy goals. The new meadow will reduce stormwater runoff flows, provide critical pollinator habitat, and reduce the need to mow while enhancing the park's beauty. A huge thank you goes to the Alcoa Foundation for funding this project and to our partner on the project, Allegheny County. Stay tuned for more information! Learn more!
Volunteer Project in North Park

On July 10th, volunteers from EQT Corporation joined us in a beautiful area of North Park called Rocky Dell for a litter clean up. We'd like to thank Allegheny County Lead Supervisory Park Ranger Braden Meiter for leading the event and to all our amazing volunteers who spent the morning clearing out garbage and old rusty pipes to help improve your parks! View all the photos from our volunteer project on our Facebook.

Twilight Picnic for the Parks
Saturday, August 19, 2023
Hartwood Acres Park
Tickets are now on sale for Twilight Picnic for the Parks!

We hope you'll join us for the region's best summer celebration in the Caren Glotfelty Meadow at Hartwood Acres Park - a night of fun, music, delicious food and drinks with friends.

Twilight Picnic, the signature fundraiser for the Allegheny County Parks Foundation, assembles regional supporters in an intimate atmosphere under the stars. This sustainable meadow of native plantings is a beautiful backdrop for al fresco style cocktails and elevated picnic fare by Fluted Mushroom using the finest local ingredients.

Performing throughout the evening will be Buffalo Rose, a wildly charismatic six-piece modern folk/Americana band from Pittsburgh, PA that takes the singer-songwriter tradition to a new level by crafting original songs which are emotive, meticulously arranged, and inspired by a world of idiosyncratic influences that never let a dull or predictable moment creep in.

All proceeds raised from this signature fundraiser go directly back to your nine Allegheny County Parks.

Ways to Support
Plan a Meaningful Gift to Your Parks!
Have you ever wanted to make a bigger impact on your community? You can! Make a lasting impact on the parks you love with a planned gift to the Allegheny County Parks Foundation. Consider recognizing us in your will, through an IRA distribution, or by transferring stock or other qualified investments in the form of a planned gift. A planned gift is a commitment made during your lifetime, often without affecting your wallet today, that supports an organization like ours when you are no longer in need of your assets.
