This week we were scheduled to host Family Promise guests, and Sunday night went well!

Unfortunately, on Monday, one of the families had a positive COVID test, and so our guests will instead be housed in the Family Promise duplex and in a hotel this week to prevent spreading this illness. We are thankful to those who volunteered for this week, and we're praying for a speedy recovery for our FP neighbors.

A bit of good news is that we will be able to help FP in another way; we asked director Leslie Starnes what a week of hotel stay was going to cost the program (it'll be about $600) and we have committed to covering that expense with our Good Samaritan fund. We are grateful to have this discretionary fund available to help our congregation and community and glad to be able to 'host' elsewhere this week.

Thank you for supporting Family Promise, and for supporting the Good Samaritan fund. We look forward to hosting Family Promise at Grace again October 8-15th, and we invite you to go ahead and mark your calendar!

Seniors@Grace

Seniors@Grace are on the road on WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 23 for a special luncheon at Ebenezer Grill located at 1525 Ebenezer Rd in Rock Hill. We will have the place to ourselves to sample some of the Grill's top menu items and learn about how the building started as a gas station and how it has become a community favorite.
Please let Annie-Laurie Wheat know by Monday, August 21 if you can come. (803-517-0626 or annielauriewheat@gmail.com)

Also mark these upcoming dates: September 28 at Grace for a visit with Amber West who is the Partner Relations Manager for Hospice and Community Care and October 26 for our annual Octoberfest!

There is much to celebrate - 345 different women and 31 children served, 52 women who have secured employment & 33 women who have been placed into housing. This event will shine a spotlight on the lives of these inspiring women & provide an insightful glimpse of homelessness in our community that will certainly challenge your perspective. You will hear stories from former residents & see first hand how your investment in The Life House is making a difference! This is sure to be a "sweet" experience, & we hope you will join us!

Do you have a special talent or gift? Do you enjoy talking to people and brightening their day? Then please consider volunteering at Pathways Community Center’s new Learning Lab.

The Learning Lab will be available each day to homeless men and women who stay at Pathways during the day and are housed overnight by two of Grace’s Outreach partners, Bethel Men’s Shelter and The Life House. Help these men and women learn something new, share in some camaraderie, and know that people in their community really do care. What a blessing you will be, and you are likely to find yourself blessed as well.

More information is available on various bulletin boards around the church or contact Pathways at 803-366-7284

Meets on Tuesday, September 5 from 11am - 1pm in room 107. This group is for crafters of any skill level and any craft, with the group’s purpose to craft items that will be donated to different organizations in need of those items.
We are exploring the opportunity to reinstate a quilting group at Grace! We need your input to determine what interest there may be, what the focus could be, and when to meet.

Grace Member / Friend Memories
One of the ways we will be celebrating the rich history of Grace this year is to hear about its impact on the lives of its members.

These do not need to be very long - even a single paragraph would be fine. Simply share with us your perspective, the way your story and Grace's story came together, and we will publish these remembrances in these Grace Notes publications throughout the year.
Email your memories to 100years@gracerockhill.com
Centennial Temple Talks

As a part of Grace's 100th Anniversary Celebration, we will share a Temple Talk highlighting Grace's history through the decades on the first Sunday of each month, from March through December.
