The COVID-19 emergency is over, but there is still SO MUCH to learn about the coronavirus.
Did you know that the antiviral, PAXLOVID, can help cut down the time that you are infectious, as well as curb symptoms and ensure that you get through COVID as quickly and painlessly as possible?
When PAXLOVID was first approved to treat COVID, limited supplies required that those who wanted access to this medication be at high-risk for severe complication. This meant that they had to have underlying conditions such as asthma, diabetes and/or be immunocompromised. More abundant supplies mean that access to PAXLOVID is no longer highly restricted.
People 12 and older who test positive for COVID should reach out to their doctor to request PAXLOVID within the first 5 days of symptoms. PAXLOVID is available by prescription from more than 40,000 locations nationwide.
And it is FREE!
PAXLOVID is available at no cost and is currently available regardless of insurance coverage. The U.S. Government has purchased PAXLOVID from Pfizer and is making it available to patients.
Specific insurers may develop coverage policies for PAXLOVID in the future after Government purchase supply is no longer available for individuals who do not have timely access to their own healthcare provider, there are more than 2,700 “Test-to-Treat” sites where patients can get tested, assessed for COVID-19 therapeutic eligibility, and have their prescription filled.
PAXLOVID is an effective tool in our arsenal against COVID. Let’s use it to keep our families and our communities safer and healthier!
