This Week At Westminster

Prayer List

When you really listen, what does the Spirit ask of you - personally, specifically, in this time?

What needs to grow? What needs to go?

What needs to be confronted?

Or maybe welcomed, finally, into the center?

We tend through play, we tend with seriousness. We tend to ourselves so we can tend to each other. Heal. Discover. Grow in Courage. Lean in. Divest. Consider. Integrate. Act. Unfold. Unravel. Unlearn. As Grace Lee Boggs wrote,“These are the times to grow our souls.”

~MJK, Enfleshed

May we find ourselves willing.

Friends,

I am grateful for your warm welcome back to me upon my return from a beautiful trip reconnecting with my family and friends in Romania/Hungary. Thank you for the love and care you showed to our Westminster community while I was away - prayers of gratitude and thanksgiving to all of you who participated in worship leadership; to all who offered comfort and love as our Westminster family has been mourning the death of longtime members Sue Coleman and Nahida Gordon, and now Don Gordon.

We also pray for

  • those healing from medical procedures, and who are dealing with ongoing health concerns in our midst;
  • those who are overwhelmed by the difficult personal situations;
  • those affected by extreme weather conditions and ensuing natural disasters--especially we pray for those in the path of hurricane Debby;
  • all who live in the midst of violence and war - in Gaza, the West Bank and Israel, Haiti, South Sudan, Ukraine, and many other places across the world;
  • your peace, O God, to overcome our dependence on violence and warfare;
  • those who strive for justice, may their voices be heard and heeded;
  • in thanksgiving for all who use their skills and resources for the common good;
  • your church to build up the beloved community across the world.

May we embody God's light, love, compassion, and hope to all we encounter.

14th Annual Break the Cycle

Westminster will once again be a Gold Sponsor of Break the Cycle in support of OneEighty on Saturday, August 24, 2024. Our church's donation will support treatment and prevention services for the homeless working with OneEighty. Last year we fielded a team of 20 bikers and walkers. Walkers and bikers can choose to begin their walk or ride at the fairgrounds in Wooster or at the Hipp Station in Millersburg.

If you would like to bike or walk with our Westminster Team, please complete a registration form and return it to Lemoine Peart at church or to her mailbox in the church office. Registration forms are available in Mackey Hall, the church office or from any Benevolences Committee member.

There is no cost to participate if you turn in your paper registration and release forms at church. If you sign up by Sunday at church by July 28, you will receive a free Break the Cycle T-shirt on the day of the event.

For more information check out the Break the Cycle website or email or call Lemoine at lwmn@bright.net or 330-624-7506 (home).

Hope to see you there!

Prayer Request and Privacy Laws

Please note, that because of government privacy laws, hospitals and care centers no longer are allowed to notify churches that a person has been admitted (even if the person lists their home church at admission). The only way that the church staff will know if someone is hospitalized is if a family member or friend lets us know. We'd rather get 20 calls about the same person than none! Thanks for your help in making Westminster a caring community. Contact the Westminster Office by phone 330-263-2398 or email to notify the church if you or someone you know is hospitalized or otherwise in need of our prayers!
