Academic Options

GA's in Housing are able to pursue any graduate degree of their choosing. A list of recent graduate degrees outside the College Student Development program are listed below!

College Student Development Program

Program Overview

Most GA's in Housing pursue a Master of Science in Counseling and Student Development with an emphasis in College Student Development.

This emphasis is designed to prepare the student for work in a college setting at one or many different student affairs agencies, and to help the student meet the professional entry level and advancement requirements in the field.

A minimum of 39 graduate credit hours is required in the program. Students complete 33 hours of core course in addition to 6 credit hours aligned with one of two options: Student Affairs Administration and Social Justice Education.

The Student Affairs Administration focuses on preparing students to work in various functional areas in student affairs throughout higher education. The Social Justice Education option provides students with a primary focus on social justice education within work in higher education.
